Mrs. Gussie Cohen Passes Away at 90 Mrs. Gussie Cohen, pioneer De- troit resident, died last Friday at the age of 90. Funeral services were held at Ira Kaufman Funeral Home on Dexter Blvd., Sunday afternoon, Rabbi A. M. Hershman officiat- , ing. Interment was in Clover Hill Park Cemetery. Hundreds of friends of the family attended the funeral serv- ice and paid last respects to her memory. Born in Poland, Mrs. Cohen had lived in Detroit for 53 years. She made her home with her son, Harry Cohen, prominent De- troit Jewish leader, vice-presi- dent of Congregation Shaarey Zedek and the Zionist Organi- zation of Detroit. Her other survivors are another son, Jo- seph; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her husband, the late M. B. Jewish Center Activities Rabbi Fram to Review "Forgotten Ally" Wednesday Rabbi Leon Fram will discuss Pierre Van Paassen's "The For- gotten Ally" at the Book Chat at the Jewish Community Center on Wednesday, at 8:45 p. m. Book Chats at the Center are held in conjunction with the Ut- ley branch of the Detroit Public Library, and are open to the public without charge. * * * Intermediate Lounge Officially Opened A grand opening last Monday night introduced the new Inter- mediate Lounge at the Jewish Community Center to Interme- diate members. Equipped with a juke box, radio, comfortable fur- niture, games and room to dance, the Intermediate Lounge will be open every night and Sunday. Intermediate Council will designate a different club to be in charge Of the Lounge program each evening for boys and girls between 14 and 17. The Council will complete dec- orations, and will tax each per- son coming in to the Lounge one penny for the decoration fund. • * * War Workers Start Scrap Drive Sunday War workers of the Jewish Community Center will make two important contributions this Sunday, when they - begin their scrap drive. All money realized from the drive will be turned over to the Infantile Paralysis Fund. Men and women will meet at the Center at 11 a. m. Al Krass, in charge of the drive, is supplying the trucks. After the day's work, participants will re- turn to the Center for a hot dog party. * * * Charm Program Wednesday Appearing at the Center for the fourth time, Philip the hair- dresser will demonstrate the latest coiffures on the Charm Series program Wednesday at 9 p. m. * * * Training Course for War Worker Hostesses A new training course for war worker hostesses of the Jewish Community Center will begin soon.
