, Leaders in all walks of life in
the Jewish community attended
the reception at the Lee Plaza
last Saturday night, in honor of
the 50th birthday of Morris L.
Schaver.
Co-workers of Mr. Schaver in
the labor Zionist movement and
the Farband Schools arranged a
program which symbolized the
various stages in his life, as a
youth in Poland, as an immigrant
in this country, as a soldier and
as Poale Zion leader. M. Haar of
the Farband schools presided at
the program.
. The surprise features of the
evening were the appearances of
the eminent singer, Sidor Belar-
sky, and Abraham Dickenstein
of Palestine. Mr. Belarsky sang
a group of songs and was in best
voice. The audience of several
hundred clamored for encore

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Two
members of the Polish under-
ground movement who have just
reached Palestine told a Jewish
labor conference this week that
the report that 2,000,000 Jews
have been annihilated by the
Germans in Poland underesti-
mates the extent of the mas-
sacres.
"When we learned of the an-
nouncement in New York that
2,000,000 Jews hate perished in
oeettpted Poland, we decided to
make a reliable investigation,"
one of the arrivals reported. "Our
survey established that the num-
ber of exterminated Jews is
much larger than 2,000,000, since
hundreds of thousands of. Jews
from other countries were
brought by the Germans to Po-
land and annihilated there."

The news concerning a new
German secret weapon was
widely discussed in the coffee
houses of Prague. The Czechs
wondered mostly what the Ger-
mans wish to achieve with the
huge rocket gun. "They cannot
produce many guns of this type
owing to the lack of time and
material; and their having a few
such guns will not change the
outcome of the war at the pres-
ent time. Why, then, this wea-
pon?" was the question asked
by Czech commentators, who
found this simple explanation:
The building of this huge rocket
gun is for the personal use of the
Fuehrer, who will be shot up to
the moon when Germany will
collapse because this will be
about the nearest safe place for
him to land.

Spitting on Hitler
Among Irving Hoffman's Col-

Belgium: Since Nazi occupation
there hangs in the Prince Bis-

Hitler. Citizens of Liege frequent
the place on business and must
inevitably pass the picture. So
some practical soul printed be-
neath it, "Spitting is Forbidden."
