The gruesome details of the Nazi mas-
sacre of the Jews of Lwow (Lemberg),
Poland, were told to the conference of the
Kibutz Hameuchad, association of large
communal units, at the settlement Givath
Brenner, by two eyewitnesses who escap-
ed the terror and have recently arrived
in Palestine.
The establishment of a fund in the name
of the late Dr. Arthur Ruppin for the
promotion of agricultural education under
the auspices of the Histadruth, General
Jewish Federation of Labor, was an-
nounced in Haifa at a session of the Agri-
cultural Council of the Histadruth, dedi-
cated to the first anniversary of the death
of the "father of modern Jewish coloniza-
tion in Palestine."
signed as chairman of its executive as a
result of these differences, was foreseen
by London Labor Zionist circles.
Despite the discrepancy between the
black market and the official prices, the
cost of living figures in Palestine "com-
pared favorably with the surrounding
countries of the Middle East," Colonel
Oliver Stanley, Colonial Secretary, de-
clared in the House of Commons in reply
to Frederick William Pethick-Lawrence,
Laborite M. P., who inquired regarding
the steps taken by the Palestine govern-
ment to curb inflation. •
Premier Kallay of Hungary announced
in Parliament that 1,000,000 acres of Jew-
ish land in Hungary were confiscated
largely through his efforts, and distri-
buted among the Hungarian peasants.
Before the confiscatory measures were
adopted, Jewish land possessions in Hun-
gary totaled 1,200,000 acres.

Refugee Physicist
Hailed. by Scientists
For New Discovery
NEW YORK (JPS)—Contribu-
tions by a Jewish refugee physi-
cist and by a Jewish doctor
headline recent news in science.
Prof. Felix Ehrenhaft, refugee
from Nazi Vienna, is credited
with a discovery ranked by sci-
entists as a revolution in modern
physics.
Dr. Ehrenhaft's report to a
meeting of the American Physi-
cal Society at Columbia Univer-
sity here created a sensation. His
discovery proves the existence
of the flow of magnetic force
hitherto unknown, and opens new
possibilities for energy and pow-
er.
•
The flow of electronic energy
has been thought to be confined
solely to electrical phenomena.
Dr. Ehrenhaft's researches are
placed on a par with the epical
discovery of Michael Faraday 113
years ago which opened the pos-
sibilities of the harnessing of
electrical energy.
