Abel E. Berland, Chicago at-
torney, director of the commun-
ity service department of the
Bnai Brith's Anti-Defamation
League, former assistant director
of the Chicago Bureau on Jew-
ish Employment Problems, will
be the guest speaker at the meet-
ing of Detroit Bnai Brith Lodge
1374, at Temple Beth El, next
Tuesday evening.
Mr. Berland is the author of
several monograms, including
"Americans All." He is a teacher
in the Anshe Emet High School
Department, has lectured before
many welfare, church and civic
groups, has received numerous
awards for debating and oratory
and has won an honorary schol-
arship at DePaul University,
Chicago.

Miss Franklin, honorary presi-

years and is now a member of
the national board. She has
long been a leader in communal
and civic affairs. She was a

The Sunday morning examina-
tions in all branches of the
United Hebrew Schools are be-
ing continued. They are gener-
ally held in various classrooms,
marking the completion of the
study of a book, especially one
of the books of the Bible. This is
done to acquaint the parents with
the work of their children; and to
encourage the children to con-
