Faith; A Hanukah Challenge to
the Modern Jew" at Sabbath eve
services of Temple Beth El on
Friday, Dec. 24, at 8:15 p. M.

Julius Chajes, music director,
has arranged special Hanukah
music. In .addition to the Temple
quartet, the newly organized
choral group will make its first
appearance and will render se-
lections from Handel's "Judas
Maccabeus" and Mendelsohn's
"Hymn of Praise." Jason , Tick-
ton will be at the organ.

The new Hanukah Lamp of the
Union of American Hebrew Con-
gregations, presented to the con-
gregation by J. Weinbaum, will
be dedicated.

A social hour under the aus-
pices of the Temple Sisterhood
will follow the services.

This Friday evening, Dr.
Glazer will speak on Sholem
Asch's historical novel on Juda-
ism and Christianity, "The
Apostle."

Student Play at Beth El

"Hanukah Marches On" by
Sam Silver and Alvin Fine is the
presentation of the Junior High
School this Saturday at 10 a. m.
The cast includes: Collette Salon,
Judy Mayer, Geraldine Yagoda,
John Hopp, Jerry Bronson, John
Romm, Bertram Loewenstein,
Marianne Goldberg, Joan Field
and Toby Breuer.
"The Hanukah Light" by
Miriam Tucker will be presented
before the primary and interme-
diate departments Sunday at
10:15 a. in. • The cast includes:
Carol Lewis, Bertram Shapero,
Marshall Loewenstein, Marjorie
Yagoda, Joan Lewis, Susan
Klein, Joan Isaacson, Bruce Far-
ber, Lois Lenhoff and Joan Lo-
ewenstein. Both plays are under
the direction of Mrs. Blanche
Golden Romm.
Following the plays, there will
be individual classroom parties
at which there will be the ex-
changing of gifts and the serving
of refreshments in keeping with
the spirit of Hanukah.
Every pupil of the religious
school will receive a box of
Hanukah candles.
