UNRRA Decisions Reflect Monsky Due Council to Discuss White
Jews' Needs, Congress Says At Bnai Brith Paper Thursday Evening

Due Consideration to Be Given fo Specific Wants For
All Assured by Lehman; Refugees to Be Aided
In Return to Their Homelands

NEW YORK (JPS)—The decisions of the Conference of the
United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration reflect an
understanding of the special needs of the Jewish populations in
Europe and contain reassuring provisions in that direction, it was
stated at a press conference here by Dr. A. Tartakower and Dr. A.
Kubowitzki who had submitted a memorandum of the World Jewish
Congress to the Conference.
The two World Jewish Congress leaders said that the decisions
and letters received from Director General Lehman of the UNRRA
and the British delegate, George Rendell, indicate that the
memorandum was given due consideration.
The UNRRA has shown its comprehension of the specific needs
of the Jewish population in its decision that no discrimination be
practiced against any group in the liberated territories, but rather
that due consideration be given to specific needs that have arisen
as a result of discriminations and restrictions imposed by the Axis.
The UNRRA also decided to assist in the' repatriation of all
refugees who desire to return to the countries where they pre-
viously resided, regardless of whether they were citizens of those
lands or whether they possessed right for permanent residence in
those countries.
That is definitely reassuring to thousands of Polish Jews who
were deported from France, Belgium and other territories where
they had resided for years.
