Center. Morris Safron will be

Unit is open Thursdays 11 a. m.

ple Beth El, Tuesday, Dec. 7, at .8
p. m., at a vaudeville show.

Center Cinema Guild, in con-
junction with Migdal Labor
Zionists, will present a subscrip-
tion • series Of four major film
events. Mexican film, "The
Wave," will inaugurate the ser-
ies on Sunday, Dec. 5, 8 p. m.,
in the Center auditorium. Also
included in the series are "The
Man of Aran," Jan. 9; "Chaplin
Film Festival," Feb. 6; "The
Golem," March 5.

The-, call to "Join in the Battle
for Land" (graphically portrayed
in the Jewish National Fund
poster reproduced above) will
be sounded in hundreds of com-
munities throughout the nation
as Zion Tag Day will be ob-
served during the week-end of
Nov. 27-28, in furtherance of the
Keren Kayemeth's "Land for
Rescue" program. A corps of
volunteers, recruited from
among the membership of Zion-
ist groups and Jewish youth or-
ganizations, will offer Zion em-
blems in acknowledgement of
popular contributions to the
cause. •
William Hordes, president of
the Jewish National Fund Coun-
cil of Detroit, has announced

that a large corps of volunteers
from local Zionist youth groups
will participate on the solicita-
tions in Detroit.

Prof. Horace M. Kallen will
speak on the subject, "The Amer-
ican Jewish Community and the
Jewish Education of American
Jews." A symposium by lead-
ing laymen on the subject of,
"What Shall We Teach Our Chil-
dren" Will - be - held Saturday eVe-
fling, with Dr.. Emanuel Gamoran
as moderator.

Greater Detroit Bnai Brith
Council and its constituent
groups will commemorate the
100th anniversary of Bnai Brith
with an afternoon and evening
program on Dec. 12, at Temple
Beth El. Henry Monsky, presi-
dent of Supreme Lodge, will be
the only speaker on the evening
program.
At present, local lodges are
engaged in a membership cam-
paign to enlist 1,500 new mem-
bers in honor of Bnai Brith's
anniversary. Aaron Rosenberg,
city-wide membership chairman,
states that all lodges have ern- -
barked on an extensive mem-
bership campaign and that more
than one third of the quota has
been attained to date. .
On the afternoon of Dec. 12,
in honor of Monsky's presence
in the city, the new members
enrolled in this membership
drive will be initiated at a joint
initiation ceremony of Pisgah
Lodge, Louis Marshall Lodge,
Detroit Lodge, Theodor Herzl
Lodge and East Side Lodge.

death for the murder of Mary
Phagan, a girl who worked in a
pencil factory of which he was
secretary. His sentence was com-
muted to life by Gov. John M.
Slaton, and the lynching fol-
lowed.

the committee has made plans
for this program to take place in

rial Chapel wired to accomodate
the overflow.
