Randolph Churchill, M. P., son of the
British Prime Minister, has joined the Bri-
tish Committee fora Jewish Army, it was
announced by the Committee in London.
Randolph Churchill served in this war as
a military press officer in Cairo, where he.
met leaders of the Yishuv and where he
had a chance to observe Palestine's Jewish
volunteers.
A member of the recently repatriated
group of British soldiers revealed that
British war prisoners in Germany were
studying Hebrew. The Nazis, at -first re-
luctant to permit this study, consented
after intervention by Germany clergy.
The Bulgarian government has relaxed
the anti-Jewish laws as regards baptized
Jews, it is reported here from neutral
sources.

Wini-od was assured in a letter from
Robert R. Reynolds, Senator from North
Carolina and chairman of the Senate Mili-
tary Affairs Committee. Reynolds wrote.to
Winrod, who is now under Federal in-
dictment on charges of sedition, that "the
day of reckoning will arrive and is on its
way" for "those character assassins" who
are attacking the Jew-baiting fundamen-
talist minister. Winrod, publisher of "The
Defender," an anti-Semitic magazine, has
made use of the letter in a campaign to
raise funds to defend himself in the trial
... Senator Reynolds has announced that

he will not run for the Senate again next
year when his present term expires but
will devote himself to fighting for those
principles which are "in the best interest
of my state and country." He did not
explain what those principles are.
The restoration of the Cremieux De-
cree was hailed by the press of Algiers as
a return to the democratic spirit and laws
of the Third French Republic, it was
stated in the latest issue of France-
Amerique.
Ben Kaufman, of Trenton, N. J., for-
mer National Commander of the Jewish
War Veterans of the U. S., described as
"disgraceful" the American Jewish Corn-
mittee's withdrawal from the American
Jewish Conference.
Five thousand Jewish children in
France, holding visas for immigration to
the Western Hemisphere, are threatened
by the Gestapo with deportation to Poland,
according to a report from Dr. Joseph J.
Schwartz, European chairman of the Joint
Distribution Committee. Organizations in
this country have long been pleading for
their admission and for facilities for their
transportation.
Ben Rosen of Philadelphia has been
chosen executive director of the American
Association for Jewish Education, accord-
ing to an announcement by Mark Eisner,
president of the Association.
The Police Departments of Boston and
Hartford, Conn., have been censured by
high officials for their behavior in han-
dling anti-Semitic disturbances.

Pre-Centennial
Meeting Planned

As a preliminary to the City-
wide centennial meeting of
Greater Detroit Bnai Brith Coun-
cil, welcoming Henry Monsky,
Louis Marshall Lodge will hold
an open meeting at the Work-
men's Circle Bldg., Linwood and
Burlingame next Tuesday at 8:30
p. m. The affair will be given
in honor of new members.
The program will include the
showing of a film showing the
bombing of targets in Germany,
a talk by Aaron Rosenberg, and
other entertainment.
Under the direction of 'the
membership committee of the
lodge, the meeting will com-
memorate the climax of the
lodge's membership campaign,
during which the organization is
attempting to double its mem-
bership. • "Admission"- to the af-
fair will be the bringing of a
prospective member.
