Nazis and Nazi-sympathizers
boasted in mass meetings of
opposition to our form of gov-
ernment and were even allowed
to own rifles and drill with them
in preparation of the coming
"Tag." Who can ever forget
those sinister sounding perora-
tions of the Rev. Father Charles
Coughlin, full of all kinds of in-
nuendos and too often even of
lies? And all that we expect to
be done away with after the end
of this war? I, for one, cannot
share that view. Right now, while
some of our enemies are doing
"time" in various prisons, they
continue just the same with their
poisonous propaganda - within
their walls. Only recently Miss
Ingalls was disciplined for caus-
ing a disturbance at her prison.
It seems to me very easy to
picture a post-war situation
rather gloomy for us Jews. What
are we doing to meet it prop-
erly? I have met very, very few
Jews, indeed, whose attitude to-
wards Judaism could be qualified
as something higher than a luke-
warm loyalty towards certain
ritual and dietetic regulations of
a certain phase of Judaism. How
can we expect to meet a future
situation fraught with so much
danger to us Jews?
If we Jews, ourselves, can't de-
vise ways and means for our de-
-fense, don't let us rely too much,
if at all, upon other people's sym-
pathies! There is a saying some-
where: Don't rely on the word
of Princes, but put your faith in
God. This is, I think, the gist of
that Bible passage and it looks to
me most worthwhile to be taken
to heart.
How many of us modern Jews
do appreciate their spiritual in-
heritance? How many of us are
willing and how few are capable
of standing up for principles the
sublimeness of which has with-
stood the onslaught of nations,
races and other opponents for
thousands of years? Where are
our leaders to awaken within the
masses of us Jews an apprecia-
tion of the immortal values in
Ethics that form such an essential
part of spiritual inheritance?
Where are our leaders to make us
translate this appreciation of our
spiritual inheritance into whole-
hearted willingness to bring in
its behalf every and any sacrifice,
in order to repel the forces of
darkness again on foot against us?

as the new Reichsprotektor of
Bohemia and Moravia, Czech pa-

upon his corning to Czechoslo-

Dr. Frick met a friend of his

him, saying goodnaturedly that
Frick will escape the austere

Then he invited him to a party

Frick demurely. "I have to write
