Mrs. At Weisman Chalks Up
$100,000 Bond Sale
In Local Drive
Detaroit Chapter of Hadassah
announces that with the sale of
several large war bonds, includ-
ing the sale of a $100,000 bond
by Mrs. Al Weisman, co-chair-
man of the drive with Mrs.
Harry Mendelson, the local
chapter has sold $260,000 worth
of bonds an _ d has added another
bomber to the fleet purchased
through bonds sold by HadasSah
chapters throughout the country.
The bomber is to be inscribed
"Detroit Chapter of Hadassah."
Bonds may be purchased from

Cpl. Shulman Now In India,
ACtjuires Monkey As A Pet
Shulman,- son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harry M. Shulman of 2651 Webb
Ave., was paSsed by the Army
examiner after being taken some-
where in India in July.
This is, of course, a minor
part of the story about "Bud"
Shulman's interesting experi-
ences.
In service since March 14,
1943, "Bud" has already seen
half of the world. This popular
19-year-old Detroit, a graduate of
Central High School, former stu-
dent at Wayne University, was a
sophomore in, the University of
Michigan College of Engineering
when he enlisted in the Reserves
.in, 1942. Shortly after being called
to active. service last _March, he
Was promoted to private first
Class.. . •
Promoted to Corporal
Last week, his parents were
notified that on Sept. 13 "Bud"
Was advanced to the rank of Cor-
poral.. ,
Cpl. Shulman did his basic
training in Clearwater, Fla. He
then was sent
Pawling, N. y.,
where he was graduated from
the school of cryptography. 1-te
Was - then sent to IVIcChord Field,
Tacoma, Wash., for practical
training. •
. Then began Cpl.. Shulman's ex-
tensive overseas tour. . On June
26, he left .by Clipper from Miami
Fla., for a - trip that took him to
Puerto Rico; Natal, Brazil, where
he met Lowell Thoma's; ,Dakar,
Africa; Timboctu, French West
Africa; New Delhi, where he
visited with a frienct-of the fam-
ily, Bob Kleiman- of the Office
of War Information.
. Somewhere in India
Now, Cpl. Shulman is some-
where in Eastern India. His ad-
dress is: APO 467, 29th Transport
Group, India-China Wing, c/o
Postmaster, New York, N. Y.
"Bud" was active in youth
groups here. In the summer of
1942, he was one of the directors
of the summer camp of the Jew-
ish Community Center. A good
drummer, he was manager of the
Harvey Burnett Band here, mak-
ing music his hobby.
• Among the interesting bits of
information he sent his parents
is a warning that if permitted he
will bring back with him, when
he returns, a pet he has just ac-
quired—a two-month-old mon-
key.
Brother An Officer
Cpl. Shulman's brother, Mar-
shall D., was commissioned a
second lieutenant last month. He
Will be graduated from the Army
Air Force Advance Intelligence
School, Harrisburg, Pa., on Sept.
23. His former rank was Flight
Officer. A former Detroit news-
paperman, he has been in active
service since May 7, 1942. He
was executive vice-president of
Council for Democracy at the
time of his enlistment.,

Zionists, will present Naomi
Goldberg in a' lecture on "Politi-
cal Parties in Palestine and Their
Viewpoints in America," at 8 p.m.
Sunday, at the Jewish Center.
Mrs. Goldberg has lived in Pal-
estine for two years and has par-
ticipated in numerous activities
in the Yishuv. She has been ac-
tive in labor Zionist youth circles
in this country. •
The meeting is open to the pub-
lic. Refreshments will be served.
There will be a general discussion
after the lecture.

ents last week of a great honor
bestowed upon him. He wrote
that he was selected• as a member
of the white-gloved honor guard
for Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt dur-
ing part of her stay in Australia.

NEW YORK (JPS)—Dr. Kurt
Rosenfeld, former Prussian Min-
ister of Justice who fled, from
the country he had served follow-
ing the accession of Hitler to
power, died here after a long ill-
ness. He was 66. Arriving here
in 1934 after escaping from Nazi
Germany, Dr. Rosenfeld lectured
and wrote on the German politi-
cal situation and served as chair-
