CHILDREN'S
CORNER

Dear Boys and Girls:
Are you buying your share of
War Stamps and Bonds?
Each one of you can, in his Or
her own way, be a "Gallant" in
the great Third War Loan.
Every penny we invest with
our government is a good way
of saving and will help win the
war.
We are all happy with our
first victories. We will have more
of them, and our relatives and
friends will return to us safely
all the sooner, if we help as
much as we can in winning the
war.
Today I am sharing with you
the thoughts the great Mark
Twain expressed about the Jews.
am also printing a poem
written by one of my young
readers on the Bond Drive.
A happy Sabbath to all.

BACK THE ATTACK

Crippled soldiers already walk the
street,
How do you feel when our eyes and
theirs meet?

Are you letting them die?
Can you look them straight in the eye?

When flowers will be placed on the
graves of the dead
And sorrowful words will then be said,

You have led them to this fate.
You're sorry later, but that's too late.

Democracy is a pretty word to you.
And who is not proud of the Red,
White, and Blue;

But it still hurts to dig down deep,
Far into the secret fund we keep:

Our soldiers would like to live too!
Yet, they gallantly give their lives
for you.

Give so that their deaths are not in
vain,
Let freedom on this earth remain.

heard of, has always been heard
of. His contributions to the
world's list of great names in
literature, science, art, music, fi-
nance, medicine, abstruse learn-
ing, are also way out of propor-
tion to the smallness of his bulk
. . . The Egyptians, the Babylo-
nians and the Persians rose, fill-
ed the planet' with sount and
splendor, then faded to dream
stuff and passed away; the Greek
and the Roman followed, and a
vast noise, and they were gone;
other people have sprung up and
held the torch high for a time,
but it burned out, and they sit
in twilight now, or have van-
ished. The Jew saw them all,
beat them all, and is now, what
he always was, exhibiting no dec-
adence, no infirmities of age, no
weakening of his parts, no slow-
ing of his energies, no dulling of
his alert and aggressive mind.
All things are mortal but the
Jew; all other forces pass, but he
remains."

"If the statistics are right, the
Jews constitute one per cent of
the human race. It suggests a

way. Properly the Jew ought
hardly to be heard of; but he is
