ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mrs. Arnold Kaichen has returned to her home, in Cincinnati
following an extended visit with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Howard Kaichen of Huntington Woods.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank V. Martin of Moss Ave. have returned
from Bayfield, Ont., where they spent the summer months.
Mr. and Mrs. I. Rodney Myers and their daughter, Helen, of
Longfellow Ave. have returned from Los Angeles where they
spent the summer. Their sister, Miss Sadie Hirschman, who accom-
panied them, is spending a few days in Milwaukee before returning
home.
Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Gilbert and Mr. and Mrs. Julius Gilbert of
Arden Park are expected to return the early part of the week
from their summer home in Charlevoix.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fecheimer and their two children of
Huntington Woods have returned from a three weeks' stay in
Eagle River, Wis.
Dr. and Mrs. Herbert M. Smith of Shrewsbury Rd. returned
on their boat Sunday from a three weeks' stay in Bayfield, Ont.
They were accompanied by L.A.C.. Barnett Nathan of Liverpool,
Eng., and Cpl. Wilfred Johnson of Newcastle, Eng., who spent a
few days here before returning to. their posts at Port Albert, Ont.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold N. Ehrlich of Pennington Dr. were hosts
to a group of their friends at a dinner at Franklin Hills Country
Club last Tuesday evening. . .

Mexico where she spent the summer on a ranch.
Mrs. Ida Klein of 2648 Rochester Ave., Apt. 205, will hold
open house Sunday, from 3 to 11, in honor of her son, S/Sgt.
Bernard F, Klein, stationed at the U. S. Air Base, Clovis, New
Mexico, . who is now home on furlough.
Raul Lopez Franco of the Department of Foreign Relations
of Mexico and other officials of the Mexican foreign service were
entertained last Thursday by Saul R. Levin.

Miss Ann Zack of 15532 Normandy Ave. has returned to
Detroit by plane after spending two weeks with her sister and
brother-in-law, Capt. and Mrs. Michael M. Levin, in Hattiesburg,
Miss. Capt. Levin is with the station hospital at Camp Shelby.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Smith of 19338 Wisconsin Ave. celebrated
their 25th wedding anniversary on Aug. 30 and were feted by
memebrs of the family.
Mrs. Henry Berris of Hempstead, N. Y., is visitina with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schiller. Her husband, '' Lt. Henry
Berris, is stationed with the dental corps at Station Hospital,
Mitchell Field, N. Y.
Miss Sheryl Epstein and Miss Lois Benjamin have returned
from a summer's stay at Camp Playfair.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Slatkin were on a two-week fishing
trip in Wisconsin. Their son, Norton, is leaving Sept. 14 for Stanton
Military School. Their daughter, Shirley, is visiting her brother,
Leeford, in South Carolina.
Mr. and Mrs. Clement Hopp of Longfellow Ave. have returned
from a two weeks' stay in Superior, Wis. Their son, Clement Jr.,
who spent the summer at Camp Nebagemon, returned with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Rose of Fairfield Ave. are spending a
week in New York City.
Mr. and - Mrs Ben Love of Clairmount Ave. have as their
guests their son-in-law and daughter, Lt. and Mrs. S. S. Willis
and their son, Jimmy. Lt. Willis is on leave from his post at
Napier Field, Headland, Alabama.
Mrs. Aaron Levinson has returned to her home in Los Angeles
following an extended visit with relatives and friends.
Miss Bertha M. Robinson of Fullerton Ave. has returned from
a Saqueny Bay cruise and a visit to New York City.
Mrs. A. Joseph Himmelhoch, her daughter, Martha, and her
son's, Ralph and Jonothan, of Kingston Rd. will leave the early
part of next week for Springfield, Mo., where they will join
Capt. Himmelhoch who is stationed at the O'Reilly General hospital.
Mrs. Pauline Weil of London Ave. has returned from Peoria,
Ill., where she was the guest for two weeks of Mr.. and Mrs.
Harold Saltzstein.
Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Brodie of Chicago Blvd. have returned
from a visit to New York City and Atlantic City. Their daughter,
Madeline, who spent the summer at Highland Manor Camp, re-
turned with them.
Miss Eivelyn Landau of Clements Ave. who has enlisted in
the WACS, has left for her post in Des Moines, Iowa.
Miss Jean. Holtzman of Calvert Ave. has returned from Los
Angeles, where she spent a month visiting her brother and
sister-in-law,
Calif.,r. and Mrs. Albert Holtzman.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernhardt Salomon and their two daughters
have moved here from Pittsburgh and at• present are 'making their

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kert, their daughter, Lenore, and their
sons, Leslie and Sheldon, have returned to their home in Toronto
efollowing an extended visit with Mrs. Kert's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Simon Meresky of . Windsor.
. Mrs. William Mazer and ,her, son and •slaughter of Birchcrest Dr.
have returned from a two Weeks' -visit with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Lurie of Columbus. Her sister, Miss Harriet Lurie of
Columbus, returned with them. and will remain for a short ;stay.
Miss Marion Flayer and Miss Rena Flayer of Rochester Ave.
have returned frcm a week-end cruise of the Great Lakes.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Steiner of Elmhurst Ave. have returned
from a three weeks' visit in Los Angeles, Calif.
Mrs. Joseph Glazer and her son, Louis, of Tyler Ave; have
joined Mr. Glazer who has been in Dayton, 0., for several weeks.

19th Season for
Halevy Singers

With the resumption of activi-
ties for its 19th year, the Halevy -
Singine,, Society is looking for-
ward to the opening event on its
program, the banquet which
takes place on Sunday evening,
Sept. 19, at Pereira's, Dexter and
Glynn Court.
Following the dinner, starting
at 7 p. in., there will be a pro-
gram with Rabbi Morris Adler
as guest speaker. Arrangements
are being made by the Halevy

activities committee, of which

drive will commence at a lunch-
eon meeting at the Book Cadillac
Hotel at 12:30 next Tuesday.
Mrs. Moses P. Epstein, a for-
mer national president, will be
the guest speaker. The chairman
will be Mrs. Morris Adler, presi-
dent of the Detroit chapter.
Reports will be submitted on
pre-solicitation work conducted
during the summer by Mrs.
Ralph Davidson and Mrs. Harry
L. Jackson; and by Mrs. Frank
Wetsman and Mrs. Ben Mossman,
who were in charge of the or-
ganization of Minyanim, groups
of 10 women each of whom con-
tributes a minimum of $2 a
month to bring children from
war-torn Europe to Palestine.
Emphasis will be placed in the
drive on membership, in order
to in c r e as e the numerical
strength of the movement to
support the Basle program of the
Zionist cause.
Delegates will be elected at
Tuesday's luncheon meeting to
the national convention of Ha-
dassah, to be held in New York
beginning Oct. 25. Due to war
conditions, it has been decided
to reduce the number of dele-
gates to one for every 250 mem-
bers.
