Jewish Conference Sessions Open in New York Sunday Afternoon; Michigan to Be Represented By 13 Delegates Leading Figures at Conference Joseph Bernstein Is Selected By Jewish Labor Committee Confronted with the serious problems of planning for the post-war issues of Jewish rehabilitation, for the protection of Jewish rights everywhere and for securing guarantees of adherence to pledges made to the Jewish people for the redemption of Palestine as the Jewish National Home, the delegates to the democratically-elected American Jewish Conference will gather at sessions at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York, beginning with Sunday afternoon through Thursday. The first session will be opened officially by Henry Monsky, president of Bnai Brith, who was responsible for the official call to national organizations to meet in Pittsburgh last Jan. 24, when the foundation was laid for unity in American Jewry through the American Jewish Conference. The first session's -- concluding address will be delivered by Dr. Stephen S. Wise, president of the American Jewish Congress. Other Prominent Leaders Participating JUDGE JOS. M. PROSKAUER DR. STEPHEN S. WISE Other prominent leaders who will participate in the sessions- will Louis Lipsky, chairman of the Conference's national elections committee, and Judge Joseph M. Proskauer, president of the . American Jewish Committee. The most prominent leaders in American Jewry will be among the 500 de- legates to the Conference. Michigan will be represented by 13 men and women at the Conference. Rabbi Jerome D. Folkman of Grand Rapids was elected to represent the State of Michigan outside Detroit. The 12 Delegates from Detroit Joseph Bernstein was selected as one of the 16 national delegates to represent the Jewish Labor Committee. Mrs. Joseph M. Welt was chosen one of the three delegates to represent • the National Council of Jewish Women. The 10 delegates who were elected to represent Detroit by the elections' conference of spokesmen for 147 Jewish organizations and congregations, at the . democratic election held June 15 at Temple Beth El, are: • Rabbi Morris Adler, Fred M. Butzel, Aaron Droock, Mrs. Joseph H. Ehr- lich, Rabbi Leon Fram, Dr. B. Benedict Glazer, Aaron Rosenberg, Morris Schaver, Daniel Temchin and Rabbi Max J. Wohlgelernter.
