Hordes Reports

All records are being broken
this year in Jewish National
Fund. collections in Detroit, ac-
cording to William Hordes,
chairman of the local Council.
Mr. Hordes reports an excel-
lent response to the appeals
made during Tisha b'Ab serv-
- ices in local synagogues.
• His report especially coin-
. mends the efforts of the Ladies'
Auxiliary of the Jewish National
Fund, whose income from Oct.
1, 1942, to July 30, 1943, amount-
- ed to $29,823, subdivided as fol-
lows:
Donor event, $25,000; box col-
lections, $1,762; Golden Book,
`-$500; Butzel Forest, $403.50;
dunams, $650; Ketubahs; $33;
Sefer HaYeled, $10; Freedom
Forest; $2,221; L'Shono Tovo
greetings, $142.
- Mr. Hordes also announces the
-following donor allocations in-
'eluded in the local collections:
26 Golden Book inscriptions,
$2,600; dunam donors, $8,750;
Sefer HaYeled, $150; Nachlath
Goldstein, $10,000; miscellaneous,
$3,500.
- The efforts of Mrs. Philip J.
-Cutler, president of the Ladies'
Auxiliary of the Jewish Nation-
al Fund, were especially com-
mended by Mr. Hordes who
pointed out -that under her lead-
ership new highs were reached
in all J. N. F. work here.

Women's Clubs

Hebrew Ladies Aid Society's
annual picnic will be held at
Lola Valley Park this Sunday.
There will be a nominal fee for
the home cooked dinner. Grace
Diamond heads the committee
on arrangements.

MEETS ON SUNDAYS
The Jewish Community Center
Farm Corps meets every Sunday
morning to help farmers harvest
crops in the Detroit area. Those
interested in joining the group
should contact the Center office
to register. Extra gas allowances
will be arranged for through the
County Agricultural Department.
FINAL MOTHERS CLUBS
PICNIC ON TUESDAY, AUG. 24
The last picnic of the season
of the Council of Mother's Clubs
will be held Tuesday, Aug. 24,
at Lola Valley Park.
Women working on arrange-

Brindze, Young Women's Study

Members are urged to be at
the picnic in time for lunch at
12:30 P. M. Games will begin
at 2 P. M., with prizes for win-

Neighborhood War Club
Block Leaders of Sector B, Zone
2, in Area 12 have cooperated
with their sector leader in a
blood donor drive for the
American Red Cross in lobbies
of neighborhood theaters.
The first month's report shows
more than 200 signers for blood
donations. The goal is - 1,000
donors.
The chairman, Mrs. Eva Led-
erman, has the assistance of
Dorothy Abramson, Celia Bres-
ler, Rose Collinger, Sylvia Klau,
Edrie Kenrick, Ida Dorchin,
Lena Lazar, Bessie Litwak, Ger-
aldine Litwak and Lillie Singer.
The sector leader is Mrs.
Blanche Freund and her co-
chairman is Mrs. Bernice Sny-
der.

extended vacation trip. She visited her son, A/C Irving Rosen, at
camp at Sioux City, Ia., spent a fortnight with friends in Chicago

port, Pa.

Ave., after vacationing at the Dells, Wisconsin.

Cherrylawn Ave., have returned from a stay at the Surf Hotel in

their 25th anniversary on Aug. 11. A surprise party was given in
their honor on Aug. 7 by their daughter, Leatrice.
