Myron A. Keys has been named chairman of the War
Records Committee of the Detroit Army and Navy Commit-
tee of the Jewish Welfare Board.
Announcing Mr. Keys' appointment, Samuel H. Rubiner,
chairman of the local Army and Navy Committee, stated that
the War Records Committee
is being charged with the task
of securing as complete a rec-
ord as possible of all Detroit
Jewish men and women who
are serving in the armed
forces of our country.
Explaining the procedure to
be followed in securing the
war records of our- service-
men, Mr. Keys outlined the
aims of his committee as fol-
lows:
1—To help provide better
local and national services to
our boys through the Army
and Navy Committee, as well
as through the National Jew-
ish Welfare Board. These
services include religious con-
tacts, provision for education-
al and cultural needs, hand-
ling of personal problems of
the men,—and in the case of
families, rendering every pos-
sible assistance in time of
trial or of trouble.
2—To help strengthen the
morale of our men, their fam-
ilies and the Jewish commun-
ity by the periodic publica-
tion of information regarding
the heroic deeds of specific
individuals or of the partici-
pation of local Jewish groups
as a whole.
3—To secure reliable and
MYRON A. KEYS
accurate facts to refute any
possible charge by subversive elements about Jewish partici-
pation in the war effort.
4—To make it possible for the Jewish community to keep
in touch with those in the service, so that they will know
that they are continually in our minds and in our hearts.
5—To provide a permanent local and national record of
their heroic achievements.
6—To help plan for their re-adjustment and re-absorp-
tion into the economic and social life of our community when
the war is over.
