least eight organizations are plan-
ning them . . . The A.Z.A. Bob-Lo
trip, scheduled for Sunday, July
25, will be sponsored by Chapter
313 . . . Young People's Society
of Bnai Moshe plans two outings
. . . on July 25 and Aug. 25.

TRUE SHORT STORY .
member of the Jewish Center is
an embarrassed young man today
. . . Accepting an invitation for
a blind date with an out-of-town
girl, he took her to Eastwood
Ballroom to exhibit his dancing
prowess . . . Returning to their
table, he proceeded to tell the
lassie that she did not dance cor-
rectly and would be glad to teach
her . . . The sweet miss thanked
him for his "generosity" and sat
through the rest of the evening,
listening to his lessons . . . When
they arose to leave, much to our
hero's surprise, Sammy Kaye,
the orchestra leader, walked over
and warmly greeted the young
lady . . . It wasn't until last
week, after the girl had returned
home, that he discovered her to
be the female half of one of New
York's finest dance team! . _

THE DETROITER'S- CLUB
continues activities with an all-
day outing at The Homestead,
this Sunday . . . Transportation
will be furnished . . . Details are
at the Jewish Center . . . Speak-
ing of the Center, those War-
Workers dances, every other Sat-
urday eve, are gaining wide
attention : . . The airy courtyard
is a booming incentive to the
crowds who are attending . . .‘ A:
new name for these affairs would
be a good suggestion.
Marine Pvt. Jay Handels-
man left for San Diego, and then
—more Japs! A great many girls
should realize that sophistication.
is usually a natural possession .
Attempts to "put it on," so to
speak, is very unbecoming and
easily noticeable! . . . T/Sgt.
Ernie Iczkovitz and T/Cpl. Ber-
nie Gorosh were • in town from
Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind.

NEW YORK (JTA) -- In con-
nection with the visit of Gen..
Giraud to the United States, the
Jewish Labor Committee this
week issued a statement asking
for the restoration of the Crem-
ieux Decree which Gen. Giraud
abrogated. The committee termed
the abrogation an illegal act
"which deprives of French citi-
zenship 120,000 French Algerian
Jews born as Frenchmen."
"The Jewish Labor Committee,
representing - 500,000 organized
Jewish workers in the United
States, appeals to the government
of the United States to use its
good offices with the present
French adminisration in Algeria
to that the latter will -once and
for . all wipe out the shameful
Fascist anti-Jewish laws of the
Nazi-Vichy regime," the state-
ment reads.
"American labor which is de-
Voted soul and body to the cause
of democracy and to winning our
war against the Axis powers is
vitally concerned in this matter.
Now is the time to act; 120,000
Jewish citizens of France must
at once regain all their constitu-
tional rights."
(French circles in. New York
stated that Gen. Giraud is ex-
pected to announce a reversal of
his position on the Cremieux
while in the U. S.)

LONDON (JPS-Palcor) — The
Palestine problem might be
solved if the ArabS were to unite,
with the help of the Allies, to
form one state and one people in
place of the six separate states
which now exist, it is suggested
in an editorial in the curernt is-
sue of Great Britain and The
East, the publication often re-
garded as the organ of the Brit-
ish Colonial Office.
The article, to which • consider-
able significance has been at-
tached in all quarters, asserts
that under such • a union the
Arabs could easily be transferred
froni one state to another and
they would have no cause to fear
a Jewish Self-governing unit 'in
Palestine.
Discussing : King . Ibn ..Saucl's
statement opposing the .,estab-
lishment of a Jewish National
Home in Palestine which ap-
peared in a recent issue of Life •
magazine, :thee editorial _Observes
that Saudi Arabia's ruler ignores
the Jewish religious "aspect as
well as the fact that "the pres-
ence of the Jews in Palestine is
the result of authorized permis-
sion granted by the Allied na-
tions."
Furthermore, the Arabs were
thereby "freed after four cen-
turies under the foreign yoke."
The editorial expresses confi-
dence that •"the conscience of the
Allied nations will not allow dis-
possession of the Jews,- having
authorized them to go there."
