Jewish Women in Armed Forces
Honored at Reception at Center

Jewish women serving in the U. S. armed forces were signally honored Thursday
evening, at a reception at the Jewish Community Center.

The event was arranged by the Cen ter, in association with the League of D
troit Jewish Youth.

The photograph, above, shows the committee of arrangements planning the

event.

Seated, left to right, are Miss Matilda Segal, assistant direcior of Jewish Com-
munity Center; 2nd Lt. Nancy McKenna, U. S. M. C. R.; Mrs. Samuel R. Glogower,
president, Jewish Community Center; Ensign Helen Stewart, WAVES; Lt. Katherine
Burlingame, WAC; Miss Frances . Cohn, president, League of Detroit JeWish YOuth.

Standing, left to right: Miss Bluma Nagler, of the Army and Navy Committee of
League of Detroit Jewish Youth; Miss Ruth Friedland of the Youth League, and Miss
Betty Matensky, Center member in Charge of refreshments.

All branches of women's auxiliary services were represented, and among those
present were Lt. Rachel Feingold of the Marines and Ensign Elizabeth Maxfield of the
SPARS.

A victory fashion show and motion pictures of girls in various camp services
highlighted the evening. A martial atmosphere was provided by a Color Guard of
the 729th Military Police Band of River Ro uge Park.

Mrs. Philip R. Marcuse was chairman of the reception. Mrs. Glogower intro-
duced the speakers. Miss Bertha Belkin, of the Army and Navy Committee of the
League of Detroit Jewish Youth, served on the arrangements committee.
