Regent of Hungary
Reported Refusing
Demands by Hitler
GENEVA (JPS) — Nicolas
Horthy, regent of Hungary, is •
reported to have refused to com-
ply with demands by Hitler for
additional anti-Jewish measures
in Hungary.
When Horthy conferred with
Hitler in Berlin recently, the
latter is said to have ordered the
Hungarian government to send
200,000 Jews to Axis-occupied
Russia as forced laborers. He
declared that 10,000 Hungarian
Jews already were working on
the Russian front and that the
Hungarian people would rebel
against further deportations. He
also refused to establish Nazi-
