Nazis Using Polish Jews
For Horrible Experiments
German Medical Authorities Now Attempting Various
Methods of Artificial Impregnation and Sterilization
On Men and Women
LONDON, (JTA)—Nazi medical authorities are now
using Jewish men and women in Poland for experiments on
various methods of artificial impregnation and sterilization,
the Polish Telegraphic Agency reported this week.
The report said that an experimental station of the Berlin
Institute of Hygiene has been established in one of the bar-
racks of the concentration camp at Oswiecim and experiments
have been started on 200 Jewish men and 25 Jewish women.
Sick prisoners in the Oswiecim camp are being killed by the
Nazis through injections,
The Polish cladestine radio station SWIT reported that
fearing post-war consequences, Nazi officials in occupied
Poland are now ordering the disinterment and the burning
of bodies of murdered Jews and Poles in order to destroy all
traces of massacres.
Nazis Start Sterilization of Jews in Holland
STOCKHOLM, (JTA)—The Nazi authorities in occupied Hol-
land have started the sterilization of Jews, the Swedish newspapers
reported this week.
More than 19,000 Jews already have been deported from Sofia,
the capital of Bulgaria, as a result of the expulsion order issued by
the Bulgarian Government several weeks ago, the Swedish news-
paper Nya Dagligt Allehanda reported this week.
Of the 25,000 Jews who resided in the city, only several thous-
and, who are citizens of neutral countries, have not yet been
expelled.
Reports from Rumania state that the Jewish population there has
been thrown into a panic by an announcement that the Gestapo
has sent a special commissioner to Bucharest to assume control of
the Rumanian police force.
Anti-Semitism Chief Plank of Two S. African Parties
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, (JTA)—Anti-Semitism is one
of the chief planks of two parties seeking to elect members of
parliament in the general elections on July 7. The anti-British
.Herenidge (Nationalist) Party and the pro-Nazi Ossewa Brandwag
(Ox Wagon Guards), which is a semi-military fascist party which
• has adopted the name of the early Boer pioneers, are both dis-
tributing campaign literature containing virulent anti-Jewish state-
. ments
Several Jewish candidates, members of the government party,
are assured of re-election as is the entire government slate, according
: to political observers here.
Nazis Make Belgium `Judenrein'; Deport 52,000 Jews
LONDON, (JTA)—Practically all the Jews of Belgium have
been deported by the Nazis to various concentration camps in oc-
cupied Poland and the Ukraine, it was announced here this week by
the Belgian Government-in-Exile on the basis of information which
has just reached here.
The announcement estimated that about 52,000 Jews have been
expelled by the Nazis from Belgium, leaving the country almost
"judenrein," in accordance with plans prepared in Berlin. The de-
portations started a year ago and are practically completed by now,
the underground report said.

State Dept. Reveals Plan for United Nations Accord
On Relief and Rehabilitation; Conference Set
In Washington In About Two Months
WASHINGTON (JTA)—A plan for a United Nations
relief and rehabilitation administration has been agreed upon
by the United States, England, Russia and China, the State
Department announced this week. The announcement added
that other nations associated in the war against the Axis also
are expected to agree to this plan which will come before
a conference on relief problems in Washington or nearby
in about two months.
The preamble of the agreement which expresses the
scope of the proposed organization, says:
"Immediately upon the liberation of any area by the
armed forces of the United Nations, the population thereof
shall receive aid and relief from their sufferings, food, cloth-
ing, and shelter, aid in the prevention of pestilence and in
the recovery of the health of the people, and that prepara-
tions and arrangements shall be made for the return of
prisoners and exiles to their homes, for the resumption of
essential services, to the end that peoples once freed may
be preserved and restored to health and strength for the
tasks and opportunitis of building anew."
Council to Meet Twice a Year
The plan calls for a council of one member from each
nation to be the governing body of the organization. This
council will meet at least twice a year. When it is not in
session, a central committee will have full powers. Special
committees of the council, on supplies for Europe and re-
gions, will include representatives of the appropriate govern-
ments.
The administration is granted broad powers "to acquire,
hold and convey property, to enter into contracts and under-
take obligations, to designate or create agencies and to
review the activities of agencies so created, to manage under-
takings and in general to perform any legal act appropriate
to its object and purposes."
Executive power will be in the hands of a director gen-
eral who must be chosen and can only be removed by
unanimous vote of the Big Four. It is expected that Herbert
H. Lehman of New York, director of the State Department's
Office of Foreign Relief and Rehabilitation Operations, will
be the most prominent candidate for the job.

PALESTINE—
A memorial meeting for Szmul Zygiel-
bojm, representative of the Polish Jewish
Bund on the Polish National Council in
London who committed suicide recently,
was thrown into an uproar in Tel Aviv
when one of the speakers, Garzy Gliks-
man, speaking for the Bund, asserted that
the only homeland for Polish Jews is
Poland and that they seek no other home-
land . . . Regarded as a provocative state-
ment in this Jewish city in the Jewish
National Home, the remark caused such
protests from the audience that the prae-
sidium, consisting mainly of Polish Chris-
tians, asked the speaker to suspend his
speech.
AMERICA—
Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, writing on
race hatred in her column, "My Day,"
expressed the hope that "out of this war
might come to us a truer evaluation of
the worth of human beings and far less
interest in the labels of race and religion"
. . .Her comment was evoked by the read-
ing of a list of 31 important books "which
every American should read" published
by the Chicago Round Table of Christians
and Jews.
There are 3,728 synagogues in the
United States, with 4,641,184 members, ac-
cording to a compilation in the 1943 Year-
book of American Churches, issued under
the auspices of the Federal Council of
Churches, with Dr. Benson Y. Landis as
editor. A total membership of 67,327,719
persons in 256 various religious bodies
was reported by the Yearbook, which
said, however, that 50.3 per cent of the
population of the United States have
church affiliation. It was not indicated
whether this ratio also applies to the Jews.
As an "expression of gratitude to the
land and government of my adoption,"
Morris Sharff, Austrian born building con-
tractor of Newark, N. J., who died last
mont h, bequeathed several thousand
dollars worth of war bonds to the United
States Treasury Department.
A ghastly boomerang of Rumanian
anti-Russian propaganda revealed that a
mass grave near Odessa of 5,000 persons
allegedly done to death by the Soviets
actually consisted of 5,000 Jews murdered
by the Rumanians as part of the Nazi-
inspired campaign of extermination. The
massacre was reported by Howard K.
Smith, correspondent of the ColuNbia
Broadcasting System, who sent the story
from Berne, Switzerland.
