Jewish Youth's LISTENING Says Churchill • Does Not Agree On White Paper Resolution Emphasizes Right Prof. Laski, Noted Leader of Jewish Agency to Set Of Brit _ ish Labor, Says Immigration Policy He's Against Policy 0 By Danny Raskin British Labor Party Favors Jewish Home ----- Lying wounded on his cot, without a chance to live, Johnny pleaded for a smoke—but I'd none to give. Art was out—so was Bill=and Sid just wished for one. I went to Pete but found that he had shared one with a Hun. Al said, "none"—so did Mike—and Phil hadn't puffed for days. I searched the grounds to maybe find a butt along the ways. Finally lying against a tank, saw one in the sand, I grabbed it up with fond caress and placed .it in my hand. I took it back to give to Johnny, but couldn't get inside, And then I heard the doctor say, "The boy had just now died." —D. R. (The only words Cpl. Nat. Bloomberg id England wrote to us after reading about our cigar- ette campaign, were, "They've come through before, Danny, they'll do it again!") * * SHORT SHORT STORY . . Helen Kaufman received a visit, recently, from a girl friend in Cleveland, Sylvia Sherman, and phoned Joe Brilliant asking him to take her visitor on a date. Maybe Joe didn't like the idea of going out with a strange girl, or maybe he was telling the truth when he told Helen that he would be too busy over the week- end. However, when Helen asked him to do it as a personal favor to her, Joe reluctantly accepted —taking Sylvia to lunch Satur- day noon. The moral of this story is, "you'll never know," 'cause they were married three weeks later! * * * HERE 'N THERE . . . A.Z.A. is looking for one of their biggest turnouts of the year to attend LONDON (JPS-Palcor)—The 42nd annual conference of the British Labor Party again has gone on record as favoring the establishment of Palestine as the Jewish National Home. Signifi- cance was attached to the fact that the resolution embodying this view was adopted unanim- ously at a time when the Labor . Party, in considering many war- time programs, had shown divi- sion of opinion in most other matters. The resolution of the Labor Party, which has consistently been opposed to the implementa- tion of the 1939 White Paper, emphasized the rights of the Jewth Agency in determining immigration and land use policy in Palestine. Submitted by Maur- ice Rosette, Poale Zion delegate to the Labor Party convention at Central Hall here, the resolution was adopted after an introduc- tory speech by James Walker, Laborite M. P., who spoke on be- half of the Labor Executive. British Tell Arabs: Fight Zionist Claims NEW YORK (JPS)—British of- ficials, notably F. H. W.
