Applying the Talmudic maxim,
"He who saves a single life is as
great" a's . if 'he had - saved. the- 'en-
tire world," Alfred Schmidel of
- 1601 Blaine Ave. has asked The
JewiSh: News to record his ap-
preciation' for the aid, extended
him by the librarians at the
Henry M. Utley Branch of the
Public Library, 8726 Woodward
Ave., when he suffered a heart
attack while in the library.
Mr. Schmidel states that the
librarians not only offered him
first aid but provided him with a
room to rest in and called his
private. physicians . to .attend to
him. ,
"Only in a great and free
,country like. ours :could I possit
loly expect such noble help," Mr.
Schmidel said in expressing his
gratitude to the librarians.

Isadore Ziporyn of 4094 W.
Davison Ave. has the unique dis-
tinction of having a book he
wrote a year ago occupy a place
of honor next to the works of
Prof. Albert Einstein in the De-
troit Public Library. Mr. Zi-
poryn's book is entitled "Cosmo-
Retardation." It is "a brief in-
troduction to a theory which
shows the possibility of cosmic
function in a continuum devoid
of energy." Dealing with subjects
related to physics, and referring
at length to Einstein's Theory
of Relativity, Mr. Ziporyn's book
found its place next to the works
of the great Jewish scientist and
Zionist - leader.
