Gen. Haller's Appointment Protested
JERUSALEM, (JTA)—Jewish leaders as well as Polish liberal
circles here are surprised that the Polish government has appointed
Gen. Josef Haller as Minister for the Middle East to succeed Prof.
Stanislaw Kot. A resolution 'protesting Gen. Haller's appointment
was adopted at the 28th session of the Supreme Committee of the
Revisionist Party.
Many Jews from Poland remember "Haller's Army" which ter-
rorized. the Jews in Poland after World War I. It is pointed out that
this may make it difficult for him to secure the confidence of the
Jews in Palestine.
