I ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Gilbert of Arden Park are leaving on June
12 for Charlevoix where they expect to spend the summer months.
Mrs. David Levy and her daughter, Betty, are returning this
Friday from a visit in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ruskin have returned to their home in
Washington after a few days' visit with Mrs. Ruskin's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Ginsburg of Chicago Blvd.
Major Harry-August, who has been stationed in Washington,
D. C., spent the week with Mrs. August and their two children
in -their hdme -in Huntington Woods, enroute to his new post at
Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind.
Miss Frances Freedman will celebrate her 16th birthday by
entertaining a group of friends at a party on Sunday.
Mrs. Maurice Schiller of Glynn Ct. is spending two weeks in
Kansas . City, Mo., visiting with relatives and friends.
Lt. David Crohn, who has just completed his officers training
course at Fort Benning, Ga., is spending a week's leave with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Crohn of Wildemere Ave., before
going on to his post at Spartonsburg, S. C.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Zemon are spending the week in New
York City. •
Major and Mrs. Maurice P. Meyers and their daughter, Harriet,
have come from' Lawton, Okla., where Major Meyers is stationed
at Fort Sills, to visit with relatives.
Philip Brown and his daughter, Marjory, of Wildemere Ave„
and his mother, Mrs. Israel Brown, have returned from St.' Louis
where they were the guests of Mr. Brown's brother-in-law and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Yalem. Marjory was a bridesmaid at
the wedding of her cousin, Ruth S'renco, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred S'renco (Golda Brown) - of Los Angeles, and Sgt. Abraham
Bloch, Jr., on June 5, at CongreSs Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rubiner of Chicago Blvd. have returned
from a week's stay in Chicago. They also spent a day in South
Bend, Ind., where they attended the graduation from Notre Dame
of Mr. Rubiner's brother, Ensign Bernard . Rubiner.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Thal of Toledo spent the last week-end
in Detroit visiting with friends.
Adolph Haas of Renfrew Rd. is spending a week in New York
City.

Mrs. Blanche Olympus of Merton Rd., has left for New York
City where she expects to again make her home.
Mrs. Eugene Smith and small son have returned to their home
in Denver, - Colorado, following a month's visit with her brother-in-
law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John Frazer of Leslie Ave.
Max Hirsch of Grand Ave. left for San Antonio, Tex., where he
will visit his son-in-law and daughter, Staff Sgt. and Mrs. Nathan
Yoskovitz.
Mrs. Louis Barnett and her daughters, Virginia and Peggy,
and her son, Richard, have come from El Paso, Tex., where they
spent the winter and are the guests of her brother-in-law and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jacobson of Normandy Ave. Capt.
Barnett spent a few days with his family before returning to
his post at Dyersburg, Tenn.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schefman of 1202 Burlingame Ave. will be
at home on Friday evening, June 18, honoring their daughter, Re-
gene, upon her graduation from Wayne University. No cards.
Miss Jean Brody, a June bride-elect, was 'honored by her aunt,
Mrs. Samuel Brody of Muirland Ave., at a bridal luncheon for 30
guests, at Hotel Statler.
Sgt. and Mrs. Walter Hirschberg have come from Florida to
spend 10 days as the gueSts of Mrs. Hirschberg's mother, Mrs. E.
L. Freerer of Second - Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hollander of Buena Vista Ave., gave a
dinner at the Belcrest Hotel last Sunday evening in honor of their
son, Ramon Joseph's confirmation.
Marvin Gingold of Buffalo spent the last week-end as the
-guest of Mr. and -Mrs. Samuel Rubiner of Muirland Ave.
Lt. (j. -g.) Allan Kline is spending a week's leave with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Kline of Cortland Ave., enroute from
the Great Lakes Naval Training Station in Chicago to his new
post in Virginia. Beach, Va....
Mrs. Samuel Raskin of Pingree Ave. and Mrs. Jerome
Edelstein of Rochester Ave., have returned from an Eastern tour
where ,:they visited their sons who are in the armed forces. They
visited Herbert Raskin, ph. m. 1/c and his wife in Washington,
D. C. and met Paul Edelstein, SK 2/c and his wife and Lt. Lloyd
Edelstein in Brooklyn, N. Y. While in Washington, they visited
with Supreme Court Justice Frank Murphy. They also visited
Mrs. - Edelstein's brother, Lt. (sg) Irving Sandorf at the Naval
AcademY at Annapolis, Md.

Rubenstein Piano Studios will present a number of students
in a recital on June 11 at McGregor Library. Students of Mrs.
Rose Rubenstein and Mrs. Eada Barrer will participate in the
program consisting of solos and two-piano numbers. Prizes will
be distributed to students for outstanding work in their studies.
Robert Brody, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Brody of Muir-
land Ave., was graduated on June 5 from Cranbrook School,
Bloomfield Hills.
