150Organizations

Select Candidates

Faced with the responsibility of selecting a dele-
gation of nine to represent Detroit at the forthcoming
American Jewish Conference, nearly 600 electors,
representing more than 15 0 local organizations, will
meet at the electoral conference at Temple Beth El
on Tuesday evening.
Under the chairmanship of Abraham Srere, who
was selected as Detroit convenor for the Conference
and subsequently was chosen chairman of the Detroit
Election Committee of 17, delegates to this conference
will be faced with the responsibility of selecting
Detroit's nine spokesmen from a total list of nearly
100 candidates.
The complete list of the candidates appears on
the last page of this issue of The Jewish News.
The past week witnessed feverish activities among
local organizations in behalf of the-Conference. Special
meetings were called to arrange for the selection of
electors, and there was considerable campaigning in
the setting up of slates for the final ballot.
Temple Beth El and Congregation Shaarey Zedek
have selected slates which are in the main of a com-
munity nature and do not necessarily represent only
the membership of the respective synagogues.
