Graduation This
Sunday Morning

Religious School Presents
Program With Theme to
Be 'Bikkurim'

Graduation of the Bnai David
Religious School will take place
this Sunday, at 10 a. m., in the
main auditorium of Congregation
Bnai David, Elmhurst and 14th
streets.
The processional by the gradu-
ates will be preceded by the cere-
mony of posting of the Colors by
the Boys Scout Troop of the con-
gregation, under the leadership
of Irwin Ratner. The graduates
will give a floral offering while
Rabbi Joshua S. Sperka will lead
them in prayer.
Cantor Morris Gordon will
render a number of selections.
Joseph A. Block, president of the
congregation, will present the di-
plomas.
Graduation theme will be
"Bikkurim — First O'fferings of
Jewish Spiritual Life." Their
talks will be divided into three
sections: Biblical Period, the
Jewish State, and Long Exile.
For the Biblical Period, Shir-
ley Cannon will speak on the
Heritage of the Patriarchs;
Adelle Moskovitz on the Leaven
of Bondage; Ilene Ratner on
Building a Homeland; and Shel-
don Erenthal on Perspective of
thg Prophets.
Discussing the Jewish State,
Thelma Dosie will speak on Re-
turn to the Homeland, Albert
Blumenfield on Struggle of the
Maccabees, • Shirley Diamond on
Parties in Zion, and Sol Levine
on Purpose of the Pharisees.
Jack Weinstock, Bert Hen-
dricks, Rhoda Kaine and Richard
Schram will cover the following
countries in exile: Babylon,
Spain, France and Germany and
, Poland.

On Friday night, June 25, and
Saturday morning, June 26, the
Galician Society of Detroit will
present the well-known Cantor
Pierre S. Pinchick at services
at Congregation Beth Abraham,

at the synagogue.
Cantor Pinchick has appeared
at concerts throughout the coun-
try, giving 50 performances in
New York City alone last year.
Before coming to this country,
he held a synagogue post in
Leningrad.
His program here will include
compositions in Yiddish, Russian
and Hebrew.
