Women's Clubs At Homes for Confirmands

ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wineman of Hamilton Drive are spending
a few days in Washington, D. C., where they are visiting with their
son and daughter-in-law, Lt. and Mrs. James Wineman, and with
their son-in-law and daughter, Ensign and Mrs. Arthur Q. Davis.
Mrs. Davis was just graduated from Sophie Newcomb College in
New Orleans.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard T. Lewis of Birmingham have returned
from Pittsburgh where they spent a few days visiting with Mr.
Lewis' brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Lambie.
Of interest to his many friends is the announcement of the mar-
riage of Cpl. Samuel R. Heyman to Ann Francis of Los Angeles on
May 25. The ceremony was performed at Wright Field where he is
stationed and was witnessed by his good friend Capt. Ralph Mayer
who is also stationed there.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Shwayder of Fairfield Ave. are spending the
week-end in Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Burak of Longfellow Ave. attended the
graduation of their son, William Loewenstein, from the University
of North Carolina at Chappel Hill, N. C. They were joined there by
their daughter, Betty Loewenstein, who came frOm New Orleans
where she attended Sophie Newcomb College.
Miss Marjory Solomon of Longfellow Ave. has returned from
Greensboro, N. C., where she had accompanied Dr. and Mrs. Charles
Rothchild of Fort Wayne, Ind., on a visit to her fiance, Cadet Charles
Rothchild, Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon G. Winkelman of Fairfield Ave. are spend-
ing a week in New York City.
Aaron Klein and his daughter, Julia, of Chicago Blvd., have as
their week-end guests Mr. Klein's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Samuel Klein of Cleveland, and his brother and sister-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Klein and their son, Warren, of Lorain, 0.
Mr: and Mrs. Meyer Rosenbaum of Boston' Blvd., have returned
from a week's stay in New York City.
Dr. and Mrs. Albert Krohn and their son, Lawrence, of Cam-
bridge Rd. and Dr. and Mrs. S. E. Gould of Dearborn Hills left on
Thursday to spend a few days in Chicago where they will be guests
at the Drake Hotel.
Mrs. Theodore Kelter of Cherrylawn Ave. returned on Tuesday
from New York City where she has been for the last few weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. David M. Feerer of the Belcrest Hotel have invited
50 of their daughter, Marjery's, friends to a party in her honor on
June 6.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Siden of LaSalle Blvd. have as their
guests over the week-end Mr. and Mrs. William Beckler, Mrs. Hyman
Agar, and Dr. and Mrs. S. Wilinsky of Rochester, N. Y.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles N. Agree of the Detroiter Hotel attended
the graduation of their daughter, Marjorie, from the Ward Belmont
School in Nashville, Tenn.
Mrs. Peter Vass and her daughter, Alice, have moved from the
Statler Hotel where they were temporarily residing to the Wilshire
Hotel.
Mrs. Saul Davidson of Chicago Blvd. has as her guests her
daughter, Mrs. Milton Sorrock and her small son Bobby. Capt. Sor-
rock, who was here for a short time, returned on Sunday to his
post in Charleston, S. C. Also visiting Mrs. Davidson is her sister,
Mrs. Frank Feldman with her daughter, Sarah Jane, and her son,
.Bernard, of Philadlephia, Pa.
Ensign Edward Taub, on leave from his post in Boston, is visit-
ing with Mrs. Taub and their son and daughter of Webb Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Crohn of Wildemere Ave. and Mr. and
Mrs. Maurice Jacobs of Glynn Ct. spent the last week-end in Chat-
ham, Ont.
Mrs. Caspar Oppenheim of Los Angeles is visiting with her
son-in-law and daughter„ Mr. and Mrs. Louis Burns of Buena Vista
Ave.
Lt. Milford Stein, who was just graduated from the Officers
Candidate School in .Fargo, S. D., spent a 10-day leave with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stein of Afton Rd.
Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Charlip of Glynn Ct. had as their guest the
last week-end Mrs. Dan Shaw of Chicago.
Elconin Saulson has returned to his home in San Antonio, Texas,
after spending a few days as the guest of his brother and sister-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. Saul Saulson of Broadstreet Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell Katzen of the Wilshire Hotel are spend-
ing the week in New York City.
Dr. Gilbert J. Roth, U.S.N.R., who was graduated on Tuesday
from the Northern Illinois School of Optometry, is spending a short
time with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Roth of Fullerton Ave.,
before leaving for Officers Training School.
Mr. and Ars. Edward Quint of Oak Dr. had as their guests during
the last week-end Mr. Quint's sisters, Miss Mildred and Miss Sadie
Quint of Buffalo, N. Y.
*Pvt. Martin Oppenheim has been transferred from Miami Beach,
Fla., to Gulfport, Miss. Mrs. Oppenheim, who is in Miami Beach, will
join him later.
Mr. •and Mrs. Ben Nathanson of Monte Vista Ave. are spending
a week in Chicago where they are guests at the Palmer House.
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Efronson of Beaconsfield Ave. spent the last
week-end in Cleveland.
. Max Krell of Buena Vista Ave. is spending 10 days in New
York City.

Club 2 . of Pioneer Women's Or-
ganization will give a tea on
Monday evening at Lachar's, 8939
Twelfth St., in honor of Mrs.
Janet Serling and Abraham Stein,
in recognition of their efforts to
help boost the Child Rescue Fund
project. Mr. Stein and Mrs. Ser-
ling, as a team, raised $1,000 for
the field. The Child Rescue work
under the leadership of Mrs. N.
Lesowoder, chairman of Club 2
committee, and Mrs. D. Reitman,
co-chairman, is progressing, with
$2,000 raised in cash, and $2,000
in pledges. At this event, Club 2
will also celebrate the installa-
tion of new members. Friends and
prospective members are invited.

tee, reported that during the past
year the auxiliary sold $72,000 of
War Bonds. Mrs_. Marshall Ruby,
historian, reported on activities
which included participation in
the Russian War Relief Drive
which collected over 400 articles
of warm clothing and eight
Watches; Red Cross contributions;
25 blood donors to Red Cross;
salvage drive; gifts to the USO;
contributions toward furnishing
day rooms at Selfridge Field.

Hebrew Ladies' Aid Society
will sponsor a dinner and card
party on June 20 at 6 p. m. at
the Dexter-Lawrence hall. Mrs.
Jennie Wiatrak, chairman, DA.

chairmen, are accepting reserva-
tions. Proceeds will be used for

troit Temple 152, installed the
following officers at the last
meeting: Betty Phillips, most ex-
cellent chief; Jeannette Lessem,
outer guard. Birdie August was
installing officer, assisted by Es-
ther Cohen and Esther Wald-
stein. The Officers' Club is spon-
soring a paid-up membership
dinner to be held at Workmen's
Circle Bldg., Linwood and Bur-
lingame, June 28.

Detroit Independent Ladies So-
ciety will hold a card party, Mon-
day, June 14, 7 p. m., at Bogorad's
Hall, 8524 Twelfth St. Proceeds
will be used for charitable work.
