ference occupy important places on the communi-
ty calendar.
Memorial Day services will be held at Clover
Hill Park Cemetery this Sunday afternoon. De-
tails appear elsewhere in this issue.

Jewish News carries information regarding the
graduations, confirmations and consecrations.

By ISIDORE SOBELOFF
Executive Director, Jewish Welfare Federation of 1Jetroit

Being a part of the Detroit Jewish community has been!
pleasant—and I go to my special war-time assignment in New
York with reluctance to discontinue, even if only temporarity,
such friendly associations.
Detroit is a young community. In fact it is many com-
munities—a community of contributors, a community of
communal workers, a community of people giving service,
and a community being served: All of these groups are part
of the Jewish community interests included in the Federa-
tion program. To have been identified with all of these
groups has been a privilege for which I . am thankful. If
Detroit gradually has assumed a definite and savored place
among the centers of Jewish life, it is because the various
ments of our population, as individuals and as groups, have
made this growth possible.
In bidding you farewell, I want to express my gratitude
and to say "au revoir."

Discuss Conference Plans

Many organizations and congregations are call-
ing meetings to discuss conference problems. In-
formation may be - secured by calling the local
election committee's office, 5737 Second Blvd., TR.
2-4080.
On Wednesday, evening, the Detroit Chapter
of the American Jewish Congress and the Jewish
Community Council will hold meetings to clarify
the conference. issues.
Last Sunday the labor Zionist groups held a
meeting for this purpose, ail-id the Mizrachi or-
ganization heard an address by Leon Gellman,
national president.

Farband Gets War Honor Roll

An Honor Roll of more than 100 sons of mem-
bers in the service will be presented at a rally of
members of local branches of the Farband, the
'Jewish National Workers' Alliance, on Sunday
evening, at Central High School.
Participants in the program will include A.
Meyerowitz, chairman of the Farband Central
Committee, Captain McGill and Philip Slomovitz.
