Noted Visitor
For several years, Lawrence

Rosenthal, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Albert Rosenthal of 3046 Tuxedo
Ave., has been entertaining Jew-
ish organizations
with piano se-
lections. He was
hailed every-
where as a very
promising musi-
cians and his
audiences have
been enthusias-
tic about his
work.
Last week, the L. Rosenthal
predictions about him came true.
At a contest sponsored by the
Musicians' League in the Scottish
Rite Cathedral of the Masonic
Temple on May 4, Lawrence,
who is 16, was selected as De-
troit's most promising piano stu-
dent.
Arrangements have been made
for Lawrence to have an audition
before Artur Rubinstein, the
eminent pianist, who will appear
in the music festival at the Ma-
sonic Temple this Friday. It will
be the first audition to be given
by Rubinstein in Detroit.
Lawrence will also receive a
$50 War Bond as an award from

who has brought the music fes-
tival to Detroit.
A student at Central High
School, Lawrence studies music
with Lillian Grove Mumford.
Last December, he won a $25
War Bond as a prize for writing
the best essay on "Why I Enjoy
Seeing a Good Football Game."

work in Paris setting up schools
for rehabilitating refugees, will
be speaker at a tea for members
and guests at 3 p. m. next Tues-
day at the home of Mrs. Nathan
Simons, 80 E. Boston Blvd.

president of ORT; Mrs. Harry
Becker, Mrs. William Grahm,
Mrs. Clarence Enggass and Mrs.
Mortimer Meyer have planned a
series of luncheons in the Bar-
oness' honor.
