Ex-Chief Rabbi Organizations Pick Delegates To Council Here Of Yugoslavia To Speak Here May Set as Election Month; Officers, Executives to Be Chosen June 22 Isaac Alkalay Guest Speaker at Center May 18 Under Congress' Auspices A call has been issued by the Jewish Community Council of Detroit to its 195 constituent or- ganizations to elect new delegates to represent them during the coming two years. The attention of Detroit or- ganizations is called to the fact that May is "Council Election Month." The Council urges or- ganizations to elect their dele- gates in a democratic manner. in the same way as they elect other officers. The Council's call states: "Organization elections of dele- gates during this month are a practical demonstration of the democratic structure of the Jew- ish Community Council. The prerogative of each member or- ganization to elect representa- tives and thus participate in the community's policy-making ac- tivities, is translated into actuali- ty through these elections." The newly elected delegates will convene on June • 22 to elect new officers of the Community Council and the executive com- mittee which determines policy between the Delegates' Confer- ences.
