Palestine Organizations Offer Haven for Refugees

JERUSALEM (JTA)—Leading Jewish organizations in Pales-
tine •this week cabled a joint appeal to the Bermuda Conference
emphasizing that every Jewish family; farmstead and settlement in
the country is prepared to offer haven for refugees from Nazi
persecution.
The appeal proposed a list of measures for the consideration
of the Bermuda meeting in line with similar proposals advanced
in Britain and the United States. Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog, in a
Passover broadcast over the Jerusalem radio station, " appealed-
to the Bermuda Conference for active measures to save the Jews in
Nazi Europe.

JERUSALEM (JPS-Palcor)—Delegates to the Anglo-American

conference insofar as news has revealed them.

In Detroit Drive

Mrs. Adele Mondry, chairman
of the war efforts committee of
the Pioneer Women's branches
in Detroit, this week announced
that through the efforts of her

were sold.
Mrs. Mondry is one of the
Gallant 60,000 in Wayne County
who are working currently in
the War Bond drive. She had
the cooperation of the following
committee: Mesdames Maurice
Goldwater, Belle Hershon, Ber-
nard Frank, Samuel Levine,

Histadruth, urged immediate ac-
tion by the Conference in Ber-
muda for the rescue of European
Jews from extermination by
Hitler.
Complimenting the Histadruth
upon its aid to European refu-
gees, Mr. Hillman said that Pal-
estine had a b s o r b e d 38,000 -
refugees since the war started
and was anxious to bring in more.
"In this connection," he added,
"it is imperative for the Allied
refugee conference in Bermuda
to act promptly and with dili-
gence."
Mr. Hillman announced that
his union had voted $30,000 to
the Histadruth for establishment
of a vocational school in Jeru-
salem for the rehabilitation of
refugee boys and men. .
A message from Wendell L.
Willkie expressed admiration for
the work accomplished by Jewish
pioneers in the upbuilding of
Palestine.
Other messages were received
from Sen. Robert F. Wagner and
Gov. Thomas E. Dewey. The
6,000 guests each paid $25 to at-
tend the "third seder" which was
held simultaneously in the Astor
and Commodore.

Mondry reports that most of the
purchases were of Bonds in the
smaller denominations, more than
700 people having been reached
in the drive.
Mrs. Mondry was recently
awarded a diploma as instructor
of leaders of OCD neighborhood
clubs.

What Will YOU Do in This War
For LIBERTY and HUMANITY?

An Appeal to Our Fellow Americans of Foreign Origin!

*
We are at . war. We are at war against the enemies
of mankind. We are at war against the enemies of liberty
and democracy.

*
You and I—your forebears and mine—left our ancestral
homelands and came to America so that we and our children
might enjoy the blessings of freedom and the opportunity to
live our lives in accordance with the dictates of our con-
science, free to worship God without hindrance.

*
Now we are at war to preserve these precious rights.
We are at war so that we may pass on to our children the
heritage that we enjoy today.

*
But this war for freedom cannot be won without
sacrifice. Our sons are already fighting on every battlefield.
What will YOU do?

*
I know your answer. You and I . and all of us will
respond to every appeal of our Government. Today our
Government appeals to every American to invest in Govern-
ment securities. Our Government is asking you not to give
but to LEND—to lend every dollar you can spare—so that
our soldiers may have the necessary weapons to fight the
enemies of this Republic.

*
Already millions of Americans have bought War Bonds.
They have bought War Bonds because of their flaming
patriotism, because they believe in and are ready to make
sacrifices and more sacrifices for the principles of liberty
and democracy they hold so dear.

*
But, remember, what we have done before isn't enough.
We've -got to buy MORE War Bonds. To keep our war
machine going we must raise 13 billion extra dollars this
month. Make this promise to yourself: before this drive is
over, I shall go to the nearest bank, DoStoffice or any other
place where War Bonds are sold, and do my duty.

*
And remember also that when you buy War Bonds, you
are doing yourself a great favor.

* For U. S. War Bonds are the greatest investment in the
world. Every cent you put in War Bonds will help to create
a better world—a world of peace, a world where every man
will have a job, a world of hope and security.
*
Believing in your patriotism, believing in- your loyalty ;
believing in •yoUr passionate love of America, we are con-
fident that your response to our Government's appeal to
invest your dollars in government securities will be prompt,
enthusiastic and to the fullest extent of your ability, so
that we may speed the fulfillment of the words of the ancient
prophet of Israel that the children of men may live under
their own vine and fig tree and none shall make them..afraid.
