TEL AVIV (Palcor)—A Jewish
soldier, standing alongside the
road in the desert, saw a dusty
military truck lumbering tip to-
wards .him and thumbed A ride.
When the driver drew up. and
leaned out inquiringly, sun-glass-
es over begrimed face, the Pale-
stinian shouted:

Semi-annual clearance of Jew-
ish National Fund Blue and
White BoxeS will begin on April
22. and will continue .through
May 2, the Box Committee of the
J.N.F. Council announced this
week.

"Going my way, George? I
want to get into Cairo."

This year a new plan is being
inaugurated for the box collec-
tions. By consent of all Zionist
organizations whose members
have boxes, the names of all box-
holders have been pooled, and
the city has been zoned to en-
able collectors to open boxes
either in their own block, or
within two or three blocks of
their homes. This will eliminate
the necessity of driving and sim-
plify the task of the box collect-
ors.

"George," like "Buddy" in
American, is the familiar form
of salutation among all British
and Dominion troops.

"Hop in," the driver replied
in Hebrew. The man's eyes
widened at the sound of He-
brew. "Come on, I'm in a
hurry," snapped the driver.
"And don't call me George. I'm
Sophia."
It was a Palestinian Jewess, a
member of the A.T.S., back from
a task mission in the desert and
on her way to base driving the
great vehicle.

It is urged that the fullest co-
operation be given the collectors,
even though they are volunteers
from other organizations.
All organizations will receive
the same number of boxes for
clearance.

* The Government of the United States is ask-
ing us to lend it 13 billion dollars in the next
few weeks. We can do it. And we must do it.
Every American must realize the truth!

* In this, our toughest war, we've made a good
start. We've trained a lot of men—made a lot
of weapons—built a lot of ships.

* But it's only a start. No man or woman
among us would contend for a single instant
that we're" doing enough now to win this war!

* We broke all records building 8 million tons
of shipping last year. But grim-faced Army
and Navy men will tell you that the 18 million
tons we're building this year still won't be
enough.

* From now until this war is won, America
must be on the offensive. In ever-increasing
numbers, your sons, brothers, husbands must
go into actual battle.

* For your Country's sake—for your own sake
—and for those men IN THE BATTLE . .
