Jewish Women's
League to Elect
Officers May 12

All Organizations Are Asked
to Attend Final Open
Meeting of Season

The League of Jewish Women's
rfrganizations will hold its final
open meeting of the 1942-1943
season, at which officers will be
elected, Wednesday, May 12, at
2 p. m., in the Shaarey Zedek
Social Hall.
Members of all organizations
affiliated with the League are
urged to attend. Each organiza-
tion will have a display of its
work at this meeting.
Miss Setta Robinson, program
chairman, has arranged with
Mrs. H. J. Millman, president of
Youth Education League, to pre-
sent the entertainment feature
for this event. The members of
this organization will offer "Vic-
tory Varieties," an original mu-
sical show, written and directed
by Mrs. Jesse Rosen, with Mrs.
William P. Greenberg as mistress
of ceremonies.
Mrs. Louis James Rosenberg,
president, states that Mrs. Carl
Schiller, chairman of the war
efforts board, is seeking women
to assist at the WAAC lounge in
the Y.W.C.A., also women to sell
Stamps and Bonds in the War
Stamp and Bond booths.

HMS Re-Elects
Abraham Herman

Abraham Herman, New York
merchant and communal leader,
was re-elected president of the
Hebrew Sheltering and Immi-
grant Aid Society at a meeting
of the board of directors held at
the society's New York head-
quarters.
Other officers chosen were
Jacob Massel, Samuel A. Telsey,
Albert Rosenblatt and Solomon
Dingol as vice-presidents. Harry
Fischel, treasurer for half a cen-
tury, was re-elected to that office.
Nathan Schoenfeld and Samuel
Goldstein were elected associate
treasurer and honorary secretary,
respectively.

ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY I

Mrs. S. B. Danto of Chicago Blvd. and Mrs. Maxwell Emmer of
Oakman Ct. spent the last week-end in Cleveland.
Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Fisher of Lakewood Ave. were hosts at a
pot-luck dinner at their home last Sunday evening.
Mrs. Frank Fishman and her daughter, Merna, of Lakepointe
Ave. returned from California following a month's visit.
Complimenting. Miss Minerva Federman, a bride-elect, her
cousins, Mrs. Irwin Schubiner, Mrs. Charles Ginsberg and Mrs.
Harris Samuels, entertained at a dinner and miscellaneous shower
at the Club Royale last Monday evening.
Mrs. Rose Solovich has left El Paso, Texas, where she spent the
winter as the guest of her son-in-law and daughter, Capt. and Mrs.
Louis Barnett, and is now visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Max Solovich in Cocoa, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Higer and their sister, Miss Lulu Levi,
have returned from Palm Beach, Fla., where they spent the last few
months. Their sister, Mrs. M. M. Weiler, accompanied them and will
remain here a few days before leaving for her home in Erie, Pa.
Mr. and Mrs. Israel Winston of Virginia Pk. have returned from
Miami Beach, Fla., where they spent the winter months.
Miss Shirley Weiner of Washburn Ave. has left for Los Angeles
and San Francisco, Calif., to be the guest of Dr. and Mrs. Lazarow
and her aunts, the Misses Anne and Lillian Lazarow.
Flight Officer Marshall D. Shulman, who is stationed at the
Army Air Base at Bowman Field, Louisville, Ky., was the guest of
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. Shulman of Webb Ave., last
Sunday.
A surprise Sweet Sixteen luncheon for 15 guests was given in
honor of Miss Anne Scheinfield by Mrs. Harry Scheinfield and
Mrs. Harold Sarko at the Book Casino, on April 3.
Cpl. and Mrs. Henry Carver are in Detroit on a 10-day fur-
lough, visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Carver of 3320
W. Chicago Blvd. Cpl. Carver is stationed at Orlando, Florida.
Mrs. Frank I. Wasser (Esther Kutnick) has left for Tacoma,
Wash., to join her husband, PFC Frank I. Wasser.
Hyman Tenenbaum of Detroit, who is studying at the Rab-
binical Seminary of Beth Joseph of Bialystok, is returning home-
from New York to spend the Passover holidays with his parents.
