mittee meeting April 8 at the

Scout Troop 104 of Shaarey
Zedek had a Father and Son
celebration Tuesday. The troop
participated in the rubber and
fat preservation drives. Those
having old records are asked to

6-4887. Troop 104 will soon cele-
brate its 25th anniversary. Rich-
ard Schubot is assistant Scout-
master.

Ladies' Auxiliary of Jewish
National Fund members were
hostesses at the USO on April 5.
More than 1,000 sandwiches were
served.

Eva Prerzlauer Maternity Aid
announces that due to the holi-
days, the meeting scheduled for
April 20 has been postponed to
Tuesday, May 4, at 1 p. m., at the
home of Mrs. Eva Ellenstein, 859
Delaware.

Neugarten Sunshine Club will
hold its paid-up membership tea
at the Detroit Federation of
Women's Clubs, on April 28.
Mrs. Irvine Levy, membership
chairman, announces that plans
are being made for an entertain-
ing afternoon. On April 14, the
executive board was entertained
at the home of Mrs. Leo Alex-
ander, Mrs. Martin Krauss being
co-hostess.

Purity Chapter No. 359, 0.E.S.,
announces a victory games party
to be held Tuesday, May 4, at
Jericho Temple, Joy Road near
Linwood. Mrs. Rose Bernstein,
who is in charge of arrangements,
announces that there will be
prizes and that proceeds will go
for charitable purposes.
Mrs. Eva Springer is offering
her home for a party, proceeds
of which will be used for the
Mo'os Chitim fund. Mrs. Pauline
Grant and Mrs. Rose Bailles have
arranged a theater party at the
Wilson on May 13.
Matrons and patrons of Wayne
County were entertained on Mon-
day. A dinner preceded the initia-
tion ceremonies. Rummage
material is still needed and con-
tributions will be accepted by
contacting Mrs. Lydia Rossen,
TO. 8-838C. Arrangements will be
made for pickups.

LONDON (JTA)—Baron James
de Rothschild, a member of the
French branch of the internation-
ally known family of bankers and
philanthropists, who arrived here
this week after fleeing from
France with his wife and two
daughters, reported that the
spirit of resistance in France was
at its height.
Baron Rothschild, who has of-
fered his services to DeGaulle,
left Cannes for England in De-
cember when he learned that the
Gestapo was planning to deport
him and his family to Poland. He
served in the French air force
until the armistice and the Ger-
man occupation.

Baruch's Brother in Brazil
WASHINGTON (JPS) — Dr.
Herman B. Baruch, brother of
Bernard M. Baruch, has been
named chief of the Board of
Economic Warfare's representa-
tives in Brazil, in a move to end
American factional quarrels in
the South American country, it
was announced here. Dr. Baruch
is a New York commodity broker.
