Pvt. William J. Saulson, son of
Mrs. Lillian Saulson of 14535
Mack Ave. who was inducted into
the Army on Feb. 20, has notified
his family that he is now in the
Army Air Corps and is stationed
in St. Petersburg, Fla. Prior to his
induction he was employed at
General Motors Co. and also was
a student at the University of
Michigan.

Lt. Louis L. Kazdan of the Me-
dical Corps, formerly of Billings
General Hospital at Fort Benja-
min Harrison, has been assigned
to the University of Pennsylvania
Medical School for further spe-
cialty training in Pathology. Mrs.
Kazdan is with her husband in
Philadelphia.

Aviation Cadet William J. Pop-
lack, whose engagement to Elea-
nor Edythe Wolf was announced
recently, has reported for duty
at Camp Kressler, Biloxi, Miss.
Cadet Poplack was a senior at
Northern Illinois University of
Optometry.

Lt. Newton Drews, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Meyer Drews of 2515
W. Euclid Ave., was graduated
from Officers" Candidate Train-
ing School at Camp Barkeley,
Texas. After a 10-day furlough
with his parents, he will be sta-
tioned at Camp Grant. He was
a Laboratory Technician and is
a graduate of Central High
School. He also studied at
Wayne University.

Leonard W. Moss, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Adolph Moss of 3260
Fullerton Ave., left on April 2
for the U. S. service. He was a
student at Wayne University.

CENTER SCHEDULE FOR
PASSOVER HOLIDAYS

The Jewish Community Cen-
ter will observe the following
schedule during the Passover
holidays: The Center will close
at 5 p. m. on Monday, April 19,
and will re-open at 9 a. m. on
Thursday, April 22. The Cen-
ter will again close at 5 p. m.
on Sunday, April 25, and ac-
tivities will commence on Wed-
nesday, April 28, at 9 a. m.

PROF. KELLY TO ADDRESS
NEW DETROITERS APRIL 17
Philip Slomovitz, of The Jew-
ish News, addressed the discus-
sion group of the New Detroit-
ers, at the Jewish Community
Center, last Saturday.
On Saturday, April 17, Prof.
Alfred Kelly, of the history de-
partment of Wayne University,
will speak to the group on "The
Problem of the Minorities in
America," in the Center Audi-
torium, at 8:45 p. m.

Richard Kramer Gets
Rank of First Lieut.

in U. S. Service

Mr. and Mrs. M. Kramer of
2962 Tuxedo Ave. received word
last week that their son, Richard,
has been promoted to the rank of
First Lieutenant. '''''''
He is stationed
with the 310th

Field, Conn.
Lt. Kramer
has been in the
service for 14
months. In May,
1942, he was ad-
vanced to the
Lt. Kramer
rank of Sergeant. He was then
stationed at Duncan Field, Tex.,
and was transferred from the
Chemical Warfare branch of the
service to the Air Corps.
On Tuesday, the Kramers also
heard that their son has been
named commanding officer of his
group.
Holding a Master's degree
from Wayne University, Lt.
Kramer was a social worker. He
was director of activities at the
Jewish Community Center of
Minneapolis and while in Detroit
was the organizer of the "Youth
Speaks Committee" of the Jew-
ish Community Center. He was
president of Avukah and speak-
er of the Philomathic Debating
Club.
His brother, Albert, was re-
cently inducted in the service.
Pvt. Albert Kramer studied at
Wayne University and is a grad-
uate of the United Hebrew
Schools.

Kertesz-Schane: Mr. and Mrs.
Morris Schane announce the
marriage of their daughter,
Dorothy, to Ernest Kertesz, son
of Dr. Michael Kertesz, at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore
M.. Curtis, 4031 Fullerton. Rabbi
Morris Fischer and Rabbi J.
Nathan officiated. Mrs. Anna
Curtis, the bride's sister, was the
matron of honor, and Theodore
Kertesz acted as best man for
his brother.

On Sunday

Synagogue, Rabbi Morris Fischer
united in marriage Rose Katz,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben
Katz of Elmhurst Ave., and Pvt.
Harry Goldberg, son of Mrs.
Sophie Goldberg.
Pvt. Goldberg is attached to
the quartermaster's staff at Lang-
ley Field, Va.

Shinderman - Kogan: Sunday
evening, April 4, the Michigan
Room of the Statler Hotel was the
scene of a beautiful candlelight
wedding when Miss Ruth Kogan,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max
J. Kogan of Cambridge Rd., be-
came the bride of William Shin-
derman, son of Mrs. M. M. Shin-
derman of Chicago, with Rabbi
Morris Adler and Cantor Jacob
Sonenklar officiating.
Mrs. Howard Erin of Washing-
ton, D. C., a former classmate
at Vassar College, was the mat-
ron of honor, and Miss Marcia
Wilk was the bridesmaid.
Harvey Pushker of Chicago
served as best man and J. M.
Kogan, the bride's brother, seat-
ed the guests.

Army and Navy Committee, J.
W. B., of Ann Arbor, and U. M.
faculty member; and Max Dres-
den, formerly president of the
Netherland's Zionist Youth Or-
ganization, now an instructor at
the university.

play in the Jewish Community
Center beginning Sunday, April
11. Mrs. Morris Adler, chairman
of the committee, said the dis-
play is to show the Jewish wom-
an what can be done in the av-
erage family. The exhibit will
be open daily from 2 to 5 and
8to 10p. m.
