ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mrs. Max BallM of Longfellow Ave. spent a week in New York
City enroute home from a month in Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. John A. Heavenrich of Longfellow Ave. returned
on Tuesday from a two-weeks' trip to Camden, S. C.
Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer H. Meyer of Suffolk Dr. and Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Farbsten of Burlington Dr. are expected home this
week-end from a month in Phoenix, Ariz., and Los Angeles, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Cooper of Chicago Blvd. have returned
from a few weeks' vacation in Miami Beach.
Mrs. Hugo Brand is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan S. Gros-
ner of Atkinson Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Allen of Lincolnshire Dr. had as their
guests, Capt. and Mrs. Harold Allen and their small daughter Joan.
Capt. Allen returned to his post in Albuquerque, N. M., last Friday,
while Mrs. Allen and Joan remained a week longer.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Thal of Toledo spent the last week-end in
Detroit visiting with friends.
Sgt. Bernard Brown has been transferred from Camp Wallace,
Texas, to Fargo, N. D., where he is attending the Officers' Candidate
School.
A group of Ellen Arden's friends arranged a surprise party in
honor of her 16th birthday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Manuel E. Arden of Wildemere Ave., last Saturday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Rosman have moved from Cortland Ave.
and are now residing at 3455 Chicago Blvd.
Mrs. Edward Stein. of Afton Rd. returned on Tuesday from
Fargo, N. D., where she spent a week visiting with her son, Sgt.
Milford Stein, who is attending the Officers Candidate School in
Fargo.
Mr. and Mrs. Frederick K. Friedman entertained a group of
their friends at a dinner in their home in LaSalle Blvd. on Sunday,
April 4.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Tobin of Webb Ave. are spending a few
weeks in Hot Springs, Ark.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Jacobs of Glynn Ct. have returned from
a two-weeks' trip to New York City.
In honor of their daughter Marilyn's 15th birthday, Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph N. Davies invited a group of her friends to a surprise
party at their home on Muirland Ave. last Friday evening.
Lt. Bernard Kaye will return to his post at Fort Sam Houston,
Texas, this Friday, after a short leave spent with his mother, Mrs.
Bertha Kaye of West Philadelphia Ave.
Miss Barbara Alpern, a student at the University of Miami in
Oxford, 0., spent the last week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Mark Alpern of Mt. Clements.
Ensign Ralph Helper spent a few days' leave with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Helper of Atkinson Ave. He was enroute from
Panama City, Fla., to his new post in San Diego, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Lappin of the Whittier Apt. have returned
from a stay in Hot Springs, Ark.
Mrs. John Frazer of Leslie Ave. is spending a week in Hunting-
ton, W. Va.
Sgt. Louis Disner is home on a 10-day furlough from his post at
Camp Davis, N. C., visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Disner of Birwood Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Kogan of Cambridge Rd. had as their house
guests last week-end Mr. and Mrs. Hy Schwartz and Mrs. M. M.
Shinderman of Chicago.
Capt. Louis Barnett has been transferred from El Paso, Texas,
to Dyersberg, Tenn. Mrs. Barnett and their three children will re-
main in El Paso until the end of the school semester.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Colman of Chicago Blvd. have returned from
a few weeks' stay in Hot Springs, Ark.
Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell Katzen of the Wilshire Hotel were hosts
to a group of their friends at a brunch last Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Fisher of Lakewood Ave. have as their guests
Mr. Fisher's sister, Mrs. Morris Ginsburg of Newton Centre, Mass.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Freshman of Woodingham Dr. have as their
guest Mrs. Freshman's father, William Krelitz of Hollidaysburg, Pa.
Mrs. Walter Mayer of the Whittier Apt. has returned from a
stay in Hot Springs, Ark.
Robert Barnett returned to his studies at Morgan Park Military
Academy after spending his spring vacation with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. David Barnett of Oakman Blvd.
Mrs. Ben Greenspoon and daughters, Erma Jean and Donna, of
Woodingham Dr., have returned from a six weeks' stay in Miami
Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Harvey Elbinger and daughter, Mrs. Robert Heydt, of
Stoepel Ave., left on Saturday for California where they will join
Private Heydt who is stationed at the Santa Maria Air Base.
