ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Fred Ginsburg and his daughters, Mignon and Suzanne, of Chi-
cago Blvd., left on Sunday for Washington, D. C., where they will
join Mrs. Ginsburg who has been visiting with her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ruskin, for the last few weeks. They
will go on to Miami Beach, Fla., where they will spend a few weeks.
Complimenting Miss Pnina Laikin, whose marriage to Stanley
H. Wilkins will take place this Sunday, Mrs. Maurice Siden and Dr.
Clarissa Fineman entertained at a luncheon last Tuesday at the
Book Cadillac Hotel.

Dr. and Mrs. Albert Krohn of Cambridge Rd. had as their guest
last week-end Mrs. Krohn's niece, Mrs. Harry Cohen of Alpena.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Davis of Worcester, Mass., and Mrs. Leah
Pearlstein of New York City arrived on Tuesday to be the house
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rothstein of Calvert Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Simons of Woodston Dr. and Mr. and
Mrs. Oscar Silverman of West Seven Mile Rd. returned on Sunday
from Hot Springs, Ark., where they have been for the last few
weeks. Accompanying them from Hot Springs was Mrs. Simons'
brother, Burton Lieberman, who will return on Saturday to his
home in Dallas, Tex.

Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel J. Harris' of Fairfield Ave. will entertain
a group of friends at a dinner on Sunday evening, March 21, at the
Park Ave. Penthouse.
Bill Loewenstein has returned to his classes at the University of
North Carolina following a few days' visit with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Burak of Longfellow Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schlanger of Calvert Ave. have returned
from a six-weeks' trip to Tucson, Ariz., and California.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Laikin of Euclid Ave. have as their
house guests, Mrs. Bernard Posner, Mrs. Philip Tolus and Mrs.
Frank Lissy of Baltimore; Mrs. S. Isrealson and her daughter, Miss
Judith Isrealson, and Mr: and Mrs. Bennett Golomb of Washington,
D. C.• and Mrs. William Flax of Exmore, Md. On Friday they are

Miss Rita Ossip of New Rochelle, - N. Y., Paul Resnick of
Washington, and Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Wilkins and Stanley H. Wil-
kins of Mt. Airy, Md. The marriage of their daughter, Pnina, to
Stanley Wilkins will take place this Sunday.
Mrs. A. Joseph Himmelhoch and her three children, Martha:
Ralph and Jonathon, of Kingston Rd., and Mrs. Abraham Altschuler
of Warrington Rd. have returned from a six-weeks' stay in Abilene,
Tex., where they were visiting with dapt. Himmelhoch who is sta-
tioned at Camp Barkley.
Miss Frances Marx has left for Miami . Beach, Fla., to be the
guest of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. I. D. Friedman
of Lawrence Ave., who are spending the winter in Miami.
Pvt. Robert Mazer has returned t6 his post with the 334th Air
Base Squadron in Tullahoma, Tenn., following a 10-day' furlough
- spent with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.' William
Mazer of Birchcrest Dr. Mr. and Mrs. Mazer also had as their guests
for a few days this week Mrs. Mazer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Lurie and her brother, Ben Lurie of Columbus, 0.
- Sgt. Marvin Mintz has returned to his post with the U. S. Army
Air Force, following a few days' visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel Mintz of Chicago Blvd. • •

Major-Samuel Altschuler has returned to his post with the U. S.
Army medical corps in El Paso, Tex., following a few days' visit in
Detroit.
Charles Selker of Calvert Ave. is spending a few .weeks in
Miami Beach, Fla.

Sidney Forman is planning to leave the end of this week to join
Mrs. Forman and the children who are spending the winter in
Tucson, Ariz.

Pvt. Arnold Jerome Rodin has been transferred from Camp
Custer to the Ordinance Division of the U. S. Army Air Corps in
Miami Beach, Fla.

Frank Fishman and her small daughter of Lakepointe Ave.
have left to spend a month in California.

Mesdames Theodore Roth, Marshall Ruby, E. Factor, Meyer
Kellman, L. Saulson and Manfred Frank were hostesses at a party
on March 9, at the home of Mrs. Ellis Fisher of Lakewood Ave.
These ladies are members of the East Side Bnai Brith Women's
Auxiliary, and the proceeds of the party went towards furnishing a
,USO room at Camp Custer.

Dr. Milton W. White, Lou Levine and Sam Dictor, former golf
champion, have returned from Hot Springs, Ark.

Pvt. Donald M. Cohn is on furlough visiting with his par-
ex-its, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Cohn of Muirland Ave. He will return
to his post at Regimental Headquarters of Camp Adair on Monday.
• Staff Sgt. Aaron L. Kahn and Miss Madelyn R. Kahn of New
York visited their parents., Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kahn, during the
past week.

To Feature Hadassah Meets Wednesday
Oneg Sabbath Mar. 2a The Women's Auxiliary of the

Detroit Chapter of Hadassah
announces that under the direc-
tion of Miss Helen' Kass, Young
Judaea groups will present a pro-
gram at the Oneg Shabbat at the
Shaarey Zedek, this Saturday.
"Haddasah Nurses in Action"
will be the subject of a skit .to be
presented by a group of Young
Judaea Girls sponsored by Miss
Selma Lichtenstein and Miss
Anna Wax. "Purim Tale," a nar-
ration in verse written by Her-
man Wolf, will be given by the
Kadimah Groups, sponsored by
Miss Ruth Friedland, and will
depict the romance of Esther.
"Young Judaea at Work," .a
pageant showing the work in
Palestine and in America, will
be given by the Keren Hanoar
Group.
Other groups who wilt partici-
pate in the program include Car-
mel Young Judaeans, sponsored
by Miss Emma Lawton, Junior
Menorah Group, directed by
Miss Evelyn Eiselman, Henrietta
Szold Group supervised by Miss
Arline Kahn, and the Nitzachon
(Victory) Group.
Mrs. John Frazer is in. charge
of arrangements for the Oneg
Shabbat. Mrs. Herman Pekarsky
will present current events. Mrs.
Abe Kasle is in charge of hos-
pitality.

Women's Health Club
Members' Children
Cared for at Center

In order to alleviate the prob-
lem of supervision for children,
Mrs. Sylvia Albert and Mrs.
Sam Olsher, co-chairmen of the
play group -committee, announced
that pre-school children of Wom-
en's Health Club members will
be cared for at the Center during
Health Club hours. A fully
equipped toyery will be available
for the children. A small charge
is made for this service.
The Women's Health Club of
the Jewish Community Center
offers the finest equipment in the
city. Health Club membership
includes use of the steam-room,
therapeuti4 shower, electric cab-
inet, ultra-violet ray and a spec-
ial exercise room s There are
three massage tables under the
direction of Mrs. Charlotte Stahl,
head masseuse. Members also
have privileges in the swimming
pool and both gymnasia.
The membership fee of $30
per year includes free towels
and soap and massages for a
slight additional fee are avail-
able. Hours for the Wonien's
Health Club are 9 to 12 noon on
Monday through Thursday.
Health Club members may also
participate in other Center ac-
tivities.
The Women's Health Club
committee, headed by Mrs. Ben-
jamin Jaffe, chairman, consists
of Mrs. Bertha Weintraub, Mrs.
D. S. Jacobs, Mrs. Philip Robin-
son, Mrs. Sam Olsher, Miss Gert-
rude Novograd, Mrs. Louis Gott-
lieb, Mrs. Sylvia Albert, Mrs.
Edna Boesky, Mrs. Louis Fine-
man and Mrs. Louis Millman.

Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Goldstein of 2945 Buena Vista Ave. en-
tertained 75 people at dinner at Deutsch's on March 13 in honor
of the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Jack.

spending several day" in Cleveland where they attended the 55th
wedding anniversary of Mrs. Goldenberg's parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Beach, Cal. After a short furlough, Cpl. Jr., will leave for.
Camp Barkley, Texas, where he will attend Officers Candidates
School.

Lt. Samuel Stulberg, who has recently been commissioned
into the Dental Corps of the Army of the United States, left
for active duty to Camp Pickett, Va., on March 17. A graduate
of the University of Michigan, he is a member of Alpha Omega
fraternity and Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society.
Mrs. Stulberg, residing at 17607 Fairfield Ave., will join Lt. Stul-
berg in the near future.

Young Stars on
Center Program

The appearance of the Windsor
Ballet, directed by Mahri Cosh-
ever, well-known dancer, will
feature the Purim concert at the
Jewish Community Center, Sun-
day afternoon.
The Center orchestra, under
the direction of Julius Chajes,
will open the program by play-

ing a Hebrew Rhapsody by Bras-
laysky, and a Palestinian Dance
by Chajes.
Joseph Silverstein, 10-year-old
violinist; Leah Crohn, young so-
prano; -and Betty Kowalsky and
Kurt Saffir, will be the soloists.
Miss Crohn will sing Palestinian
songs and at the end of the pro-
gram the audience will be in-
vited to joing in singing Purim
.and Palestinian songs under - the
direction of Mr. Chajes.
