Britain Picking Rescue Parley Aides
LONDON (JTA)—Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden an-
nounced in Commons recently that th6 British Government
hopes that the • forthcoming Anglo-American parley in
Ottawa to study means of saving Jewish and other persecuted
persons in Nazi Europe would be Wide in scope. He de-
clared that the Government is already discussing the selec-

Capt. Oliver Stanley, Colonial Secretary, speaking in
Commons, indicated that the British Government does not
intend to admit into. Palestine more than the approximately

White Paper, which provides for the halting of Jewish immi-

co-chairmen of the Detroit Round Table of Catholics, Jews
and Protestants, on the occasion of Brotherhood Week. The
Catholic viewpoint was expressed by M. Hubert O'Brien,
who has since been called by death.
Mr. O'Brien's article on Brotherhood and the necessity
for strengthening the ties of friendship and fellowship among
all faiths may have been the last one he had written. It
reflected the spirit of the man who played an important
role in founding the Detroit movement for good will among
Jews and Christians. We mourn his passing and extend our
sympathies to his surviv_ors.

LONDON (JTA)—Competent quarters here this week
stated that they are unaware of the fact, reported by a Nazi
news agency, that negotiations between the Bulgarian and
British governments for the emigration of 4,000 Jewish
children and 500 adults from Bulgaria to Palestine have
broken down.
The same quarters admitted that practical difficulties
have arisen in bringing the negotiations to a successful con-
elusion because the vessels on which the Jews are to travel
allegedly have been declared unseaworthy by the Red Cross,
which is to assume responsibility for the transfer of the Jews.

700 delegates and representatives of synagogue sisterhoods.
