Dr. Heller Spurs
Red Cross Drive

Central Conference Head
Urges Wide Support; List
Jewish Workers

Jewish workers in the Red
Cross campaign were spurred to
greater action in the current De-
troit drive for $3,000,000 by the
statement of Dr. James G. Hel-
ler, president of the Central Con-
ference of American Rabbis, en-
dorsing the campaign. Dr. Hel-
ler's statement reads:
"The Central Conference of
American Rabbis endorses whole
heartedly the 1943 War Fund
Appeal of the American Red
Cross. As leaders of a religion
that has always placed its em-
phasis upon justice and loving
kindness among men, we are es-
pecially solicitous that our own
people, together with all others,
should do their utmost to assist
the Red Cross. We know that it
represents, at home and abroad,
the finest in the spirit of the
American people, in its effort to
keep the light of mercy burning
in a world overcast with dark-
ness.
"May I hope that all of our
people may do their utmost to
aid in the collection of funds to
make possible the continuance
and extension of the noble work
of the Red Cross."
Workers representing numer-
ous organizations are actively
participating in the drive. Among
them are the following:
Mrs. Merrill Silverstein, Tem-
ple Beth El Sisterhood; Mrs.
Leonard Sims, and Mrs. Irving
Raskin, Bnai Brith Pisgah Aux-
iliary; Mrs. Oscar Zeman, Coun-
cil of Jewish Women; Mrs. E.
Gelbman, Bnai Moshe Sister-
hood; Miss Marx, Jewish Com-
munity Center; Mrs. Louis Bol-
hower, Jewish War Veterans'
Auxiliary.
