The board of directors, the
staff and committees of the Jew-
ish Community Center are now
actively at work rethinking the
Center's program in the light of
"W ar conditions.
Many of the Center's young
men of the ages between 18 and
21 are now joining the armed
forces in large numbers. This
of necessity means that there
must be a change in emphasis
of the Center's program. As a
consequence, the intermediate
department is being expanded
rapidly. Many new clubs are
being formed composed of young
people between the ages of 14
and 17. Max Chomsky, director
of intermediate activities, reports
that there are now 27 boys' and
girls' clubs in his department
with the young people coming
from all parts of the city.
Herman Jacobs, executive di-
rector of the Center, attended
a meeting of the National Camp-
ing Association in Chicago on
Friday and Saturday. Camp
problems regarding the position
of camps and summer programs
for children were discussed. The
Center is now beginning to make
its plans for the coming sum-
mer.
