Plea to Rabbis
Mr. Srere has addressed a call
to the Rabbis and other spiritual
leaders of the Jewish community
of Detroit for the observance of
Red Cross Sabbath, stating:
"Our loyalty to the humanitar-
ian ideals and glorious services
of the American Red Cross is
such that all of us, I am sure,
will respond promptly and fully
to every request to help make
the impending Red Cross Cam-
paign an assured success.
"Specifically, we are being ask-
ed ; -to set aside Friday evening,
Feb. 26 and Saturday, Feb. 27,
as Red Cross Sabbath.
"This is one, great, quasi-gov-
ernmental function that is near
and dear to all of us."
Named Vice-Chairman
Mr. Srere has been named vice-
chairman of the Detroit Red
Cross campaign, which will get
underway on March 1.
Mrs. Henry Wineman and Mrs.
H. C. Broder are among the vice-
chairmen of the Women's Special
Gifts Division of the Red Cross
drive.
Fred M. Butzel is a member of
the executive committee of the
Detroit Chapter of the Red Cross.

Rabbi Becomes International
Red Cross Delegate
TEL AVIV (Palcor) — Rabbi
Joseph Katzenellenbogen, who
arrived in Palestine in the lat-
ter part of 1,942 from Russia,
where he had been a refugee
from Poland, has been appoint-
ed by the International Red
Cross Committee of Geneva as
a Red Cross officer and one of
its delegates in the Middle East.
Rabbi Katzenellenbogen was for
some years connected with the
activities of the American Jewish
Joint Distribution Committee in
Poland.

Dr. Pullman to Preach
At Beth El Tonight

Fourth Lecture
On Peace Listed

ish history at the Hebrew Union
College, Cincinnati, will lecture
on "The Literary Prophets of
Israel—Their Meaning and Chal-
lenge for Our Times" and the
"Life and Times of Jesus from a
Jewish Standpoint."
Talk on Prophets
Dr. Goldenson, whose congre-
gation is the most influential in
the United States, will talk on the
Prophets at the morning session.
Presiding at the session will be
the Rt. Rev. Frank W. Creighton,
Episcopal Bishop of Michigan.
Dr. Marcus, author of many
volumes on Jewish history, will
lecture on the other subject in
the afternoon. Bishop Raymond
J. Wade, head of the Detroit
Methodist district, will preside.
Joining with Temple Beth El
in planning the program are the
Detroit Council of Churches, the
Detroit Pastors' Union and the
Detroit Council of Religious Edu-
cation. Invitations have been sent
to all ministers and religious edu-
cation leaders.

which will be conducted on an
academic level, will be informa-
tive, helpful and inspirational,
and will be in no sense either
controversial or apologetic, Dr.
Glazer said.
Those attending the institute
will be the guests of Temple Beth
El at luncheon in the social hall,

there will be brief talks by the
Rev. William H. Watson, D.D,
president of the Pastors' Union;
the Rev. Charles Haven Myers,
D.D., minister of the North
Woodward Congregational
Church, and the Rev. Herbert
Beecher Hudnut, D.D., minister
of the lx,roodward Avenue Pres-
byterian Church.
The Rev. Thoburn. T. Brum-
baugh, D.D., executive secretary
of the Council of Churches, will
preside.
