ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mr. and Mrs. Leo M. Butzel of Burns Dr. have as their guests
their daughter, Mrs. Philip Van Zile and her small daughter,
Caroline.
Mrs. David Scheyer has moved from the Abington Hotel, and
is now residing at 208 Mack Ave.
Mrs. Fred A. Ginsburg of Chicago Blvd. left on Saturday for
Washington, D.C., to visit her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Lewis Ruskin.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Fleischaker of the Whittier Apt. spent
the last week-end in Chicago.
Mrs. Lewis B. Daniels and her daughter, Lois, of Warrington
Dr. left on Tuesday for Las Vegas, N. M., to join Capt. Daniels who
is stationed at Camp Luna.
Mrs. I. L. Polozker of the Belcrest Hotel is leaving this week-
end for Palm Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Jerry Saltzstein and her son, Walter, have returned to
their home in Milwaukee following a short visit with Mrs Saltz-
stein's brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herschel
Kreger of Wildemere Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Solomon of Longfellow Ave. had as their
guests the last week-end Dr. and Mrs. Charles Joseph Rothchild,
Charles Joseph Rothchild, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wolfe of
Fort Wayne, Ind.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank V. Martin of Moss Ave. have returned
from a two weeks' trip to New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip R. Marcuse have moved from Cherrylawn
Ave. and are now residing at 2050 Glynn Ct.
Mrs. Jack Rothberg of Chicago Blvd. has been visiting in
St. Joseph, Mich.
Mrs. Harry Jackson of Huntington Woods has returned from
a short trip to New York City.
Rodman N. Myers of Longfellow Ave. is visiting his brother,
Julian F. Myers, in Los Angeles, Calif.
Sgt. Philip Lachman, U. S. Army Engineering Corps, visited
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Jospey of Indiana Ave., enroute
from the Alcan Highway, Alaska, to Aberdeen, Md., where he
will enter the Officers Candidate School.
Mr. and Mrs. Moe Ehrlich of Boston Blvd. are spending a
week in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Al Mann of Sturtevant Ave. have returned
from a week's trip to New York City.
Complimenting Miss Sadie Sachs, whose marriage to Sol
Berlin will take place in March, Mrs. Fred Bradfield of Penning-
ton Dr. entertained at a pantry shower at her home on Wednesday
evening.
Sgt. Irwin R. Lachman, son of Mrs. Julius W. Lachman of
Manor Ave., has been transferred from Curo, Texas, to Waco,
Texas, where he is receiving basic flying training.
Lt. Samuel Gingold left on Wednesday for his post at Camp
Hood, Texas, following a few days' leave spent with Mrs. Gingold
and her mother, Mrs. Joseph Ehrlich of the Belcrest Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Colten of Rochester Ave. are visiting
their son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Oscar Colten of
New York City.
Lt. and Mrs: Theodore I. Cooper, stationed at Camp Scott,
Fort Wayne, Ind., are spending a few days with their parents, the
Charles Hamburgers of Chicago Blvd.

Reports Progress
In Donor Event

The Ladies' Auxiliary of the
Jewish National Fund held its
third dessert luncheon rally
Tuesday at the Rose Sittig Cohen
Bldg. Division chairmen reported
progress in solicitations for the
12th annual donor event to be
held March 17 at the Masonic
Temple.
An appeal for redemption of
dunams of land in Palestine, in
conformity with the resolution
adopted by the J.N.F. conference
held in Detroit in December,- was
made this week by Mrs. Philip
Cutler, president.
Mrs. Harry Schwartz, chair-
man of organizations, reports a
good response from societies in
the form of dunam land redemp-
tion and Golden Book inscrip-
tions.

Mrs. William Hordes is fund-
raising 'chairman. Donors are

At a candlelight service at the
family residence on Chicago
Blvd., on Thursday, Feb. 25, at
2 p. m., Miss Mignon Hope Ham-
burger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Hamburger, became the
bride of Eugene Kraft, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kraft.
Rabbi Morris Adler and Can-
tor J. H. Sonenklar officiated.
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her father, wore a
gown of ivory satin with a long
Cathedral train. A yoke inset of
ivory chiffon ended in a high
neckline which was bordered
with seed pearl in a leaf and
spray design. Her long veil of
bridal illusion fell from a tiara
of rose pointe lace and she car-

The bride's sister, Mrs. Theo
dore Cooper, was her only atten-
dant.
Pvt. Hannan Kraft, brother of
the groom, was best man.
Following the ceremony, a re-
ception was held, after which Mr.
and Mrs. Kraft left on a wedding
trip to New York.
The couple will make their
home in Pittsburgh.

Yehudah have arranged for a
memorial evening in tribute to
their honorary president and co-
founder of the organization, Mrs.
Lena Holtzman, who passed away
on Saturday, Jan. 30.
The memorial evening will
take place on the "Shloshim," the
end of the first month of the
mourning period, Saturday, Feb.
27, at 9 p. m., in the Yeshivah
Building, Dexter and Cortland.
The ladies have resolved, at
their last meeting, to found a
Beth Jakob School for girls, in
honor of Mrs. Lena Holtzman
and in memory of the 93 Beth
Jakob students who preferred
death to a life of shame. Details
will be made known at the me-
morial evening. The public is
invited.

gram chairman, Mrs. Roy Sara-
son, announces that an educa-
tional meeting will be held on
Monday, March 8, at 2 p. m., in
the Lecture Hall of the Detroit
Institute of Arts.
