Renegade American Scribe
Blabs His Propaganda
Against Jews

NEW YORK, (JTA)—The pre-
diction that more mass execu-
tions of Jews by the Nazis are to
be expected was made this week
over the German radio in a
broadcast to the United States by
Robert H. Best, a former Ameri-
can newspaperman who decided
to remain in Germany when
American newspapermen were
repatriated.
A native of Sumter, S. C., and
a graduate of Columbia School of
Journalism, Best was, fgr many
years, correspondent of an Amer-
ican news agency in Vienna. He
was in Lisbon last May with
other American correspondents
and officials about to be sent
home in an exchange of nationals
when he decided to return to
Germany in what he called "the
interest of history."
Since then he had been making
short-wave broadcasts for the
Axis cause. The Department of
Justice announced last month
that he would be indicted for
treason.
Speaking from Berlin, the
renegade reporter suggested that
one Jew be killed for every Ger-
man killed on the Russian front.
"It would not be surprising if
Jews were executed by the
thousands," he said.

Jewish Youth's

LISTENING

POST

By DANNY RASKIN

`Bill's going over, somewheres
around the fifth,"
dad told the reran next door.
And so it went, from house to
house, and from
store to store.
But in between the distance
traveled, "Around the
fifth" was heard by one,
Whose heart was cold, with no
concern, but for
the Rising Sun.
'Course dad didn't know what
deadly venom his talk
was soon to shed,
That a thousand hearts would
stop their beat,
because of what he said.
But scnnewhere's in that blue
green sea, as the fog
begins to lift,
Lie Bill and thousands more
who died, "Somewheres
around the fifth."

—D. R.
