Birthday Greeting to the President

By DR. ISRAEL GOLDSTEIN
President, Synagogue Council of • America

Mr. President:
Your birthday this year more than ever, finds mil..
lions of your fellow-Americans of all races and creeds,
avid in all walks of life, united in their felicitations. May
I convey the birthday greetings and congratulations of
the Synagogue Council of America.
As religionists we cherish your deep religious senti-
ment translated into utterances which have helped the
world to understand religion's sake in the present world
war. As Jews we recognize in you, a worthy successor
to the greatest of our Presidents who have embodied
our America tradition of respect and good will toward
all religious and racial groups. As American citizens we
consider our country most fortunate in having you as its
civilian and military head in this crucial period of our
history,
Your birthday, therefore, we regard as a national
day of rejoicing. We pray that these birthdays may occur
again and again.
May Divine -Providence guide your hand in battle so
that victory be our nation's prize, and inspire your coun-
sel in peace so that enduring quiet and assurance be
humanity's possession.
May yours be the blessing which attended an ancient
warrior of the Promised Land, "The Lord thy God be w_ith

thee withersoever thou goest."-

THAT THESE MAY
FACE THE FUTURE
UNAFRAID' .

May the hands of our President

be strengthened.

"The Lord thy God be with thee

withersoever thou goest."
