Last spring, Mr. Deakin in- structed the members of the Women's Defense League in Jiu Jitsu, as well as 150 members of the OCD, in Highland Park. "No one is too old, too young, too_ small, too tall, too weak or too strong to learn," he said. The course comprises an eight- week term and begins Thursday evening, Feb. 4. SIBLEY'S Who was the greatest Jew in America in 1776 Practically unknown in his own generation and without recogni- tion throughout the years that have since passed, Haym Salomon, the forgotten man of the American Revolution, served his adopted country wih such devotion that he would accept no payment for his services and financial aid. Many historians express doubt that the small Republic of the United States of America could have survived if it were not for the unselfish aid of Haym Salomon. In this day, and in this war too, there are Jews who are striving to repay the debt to America and to Democracy. The story of their devotion is the best answer to the foul forces of anti-Semitism which seek to nullify our united war effort. The complete story of the role of our people in this war against the forces of violence is continuously recorded in the columns of THE JEWISH NEWS. To be fully informed on this historic role, you must read THE JEWISH NEWS every week. $ ■ ■ SUBSCRIPTION BLANK ■ The JEWISH NEWS, Penobscot Building, Detroit $ Please enter my subscription for the Jewish News for one year.. ❑ Please bill me. ❑ I am enclosing check in amount of $3.00, for pickup and delivery or visit the nearest Famous Store • Name I Open Day and Night $ Separate Departments For Men and Women • Two great talkies will be fea- tured in a three-hour show start- ing at 3 p. m. this Sunday at Littman's Theater.
