NEWS OF INTEREST TO WOMEN
ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY
J. L. Rill of Winnipeg, Man., and Air Cadet Joseph Green,
R.C.A.F., St. Thomas, Ont., were the week-end guests of I. Ressler
and family of W. Euclid Ave.
Myer Kellman, president of Congregation Beth Itzchock, was
honored by members of his family and his many friends on the occa-
sion of his 50th birthday jubilee, at Congregation Beth Itzchock,
3836 Fischer Ave.
Mrs. Sidney Weisman and her son, Miller, of Boston Blvd., are
visiting Mrs. Weisman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Miller, in CM--
cinnati.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard T. Lewis of Birmingham have returned
from Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., where they spent a week visiting
with Mrs. Lewis' brother-in-law and sister, Lieut. and Mrs. Philip
VanZile.
Mrs. M. D. Wittelshofer of Boston Blvd. has left to visit her sis-
ters in the East, Mrs. 011ie Berwanger in Mt. Vernon, N. Y., and
Mrs. Arthur Katzenberg in Boston.
Mrs. Robert Grier has returned to her home in New York City
following a 10-day visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert D.
Robinson of Chicago Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Finsterwald have moved from Santa Rosa
Dr. and are now residing at 18973 Roselawn Ave.
Mrs. Harry Byron of Whitmore Rd., Mrs. John Ginn and her
son, John, of Boston Blvd., and Mrs. Julius Kahn of Cleveland, 0.,
left last Wednesday for Phoenix, Ariz., where they will spend the
winter months. Mrs. Kahn's son and Mrs. Byron's daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Julius Kahn Jr., have been residing in Phoenix where Mr.
Kahn is a flying instructor at Sky Harbor Field.
In celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Thal of Boston Blvd. will receive their friends from 2 to 5
p. in. on Sunday at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Ellis Thal of 2309 Glynn Ct.
Mr. and Mrs. Morry M. Fenton and their daughter, Arlene Bev-
erly, have returned from a three-weeks' trip to Mexico City and
nearby places of interest.
Corp. Seymour Loewenberg is on a 10-day furlough from his
post at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., visiting with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Emil Loewenberg of Virginia Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Evans have returned to their home in Louis-
ville following a few days' visit with Mrs. Evans' brother-in-law and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Reibel of Huntington Woods.
Ensign Ralph E. Helper is returning to his post at Norfolk, Va.,
on Friday, following a week's leave spent with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Samuel Helper of Atkinson Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Fisher of Lakewood Ave. left on Monday to
spend a week in New York City and in Boston where they will visit
with Mr. Fisher's family.
Mrs. Perry P. Burnstine returned on Thursday from a two-
weeks' stay in Little Rock, Ark., where she visited with her hus-
band, Capt. Burnstink who is stationed at Camp Robinson.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Gunsberg of Warrington Rd. have as their
guest their son, Pvt. George Gunsberg, who is on a 10-day furlough
from his post with the 449th Air Base Squadron in Independence,
Kansas.
Mrs. Isadore Winkelman of Renfrew Rd. is spending two weeks
in New York City. Mr. Winkelman will join her this week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Kline of Cortland Ave. had as their guest
the last week-end their son, Lieut. (j.g.) Allan H. Kline, and his
friend, Lieut. (j.g.) Harry Robbins of Chicago. Both were on leave
from their posts at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center.
Mrs. Adolph Haas of Renfrew Rd. returned on Wednesday from
New York City where she was the guest for the last few weeks of
her daughter, Mrs. Milton Doner. Her mother, Mrs. Freimark
Manko, accompanied her from New York.

The women of the Congress are
in the midst of their fund-raising
campaign. The culmination of
this drive will be the "Congress
Tea Party" at Hotel Statler on
Feb. 10. Funds will be used to
further the work of the Amer-
ican Jewish Congress. Checks
may be mailed to Mrs. Samuel
Green, 3003 Calvert, or will be
picked up by .Mrs. Ben Lewis,

garten.

the second blood donor day for

The bride is the granddaughter

Zedek. Among the guests at the

Mrs. A. Rabin (Julia Wine), Mrs.

New York, former Detroiters;

The couple, after a brief honey-
moon, are residing at 780 Madi-
son Ave., New York, during. Dr.
Zackheim's interneship there.

Teitelbaum-Raizin: The mar-
riage of Miss Anne Raizin, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Raizin
of Lawrence Ave., to Corp. Theo-
dore Teitelbaum, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Teitelbaum of High-
land Ave., took place last Sunday
afternoon at the Shaarey Zedek
Synagogue. Rabbi Morris Adler
officiated. Miss Ruth Teitelbaum,
the groom's sister, was maid of
honor and Sander Raizin, the
bride's brother, served as best
man. The bridesmaids were Miss
Birdie Kutzen, Miss Gertrude
Lieberman, Miss Betty Raizin and
Miss Sylvia Goldman. Bernard
Teitelbaum, another brother of
the bridegroom, Irving Kinney,
Irving Raizin and Nate Visotsky
were the ushers.
The young couple will reside
for the present in Harrisburg, Pa.,
Corp. Teitelbaum is stationed at
Indiantown Gap.

Chafets of Gladstone Ave., for-
merly of Windsor, and Corp.
Jack L. Fine of the Canadian
Army, son of Mrs. Annie Fine of
Windsor, were united in mar-
riage. Rabbi Benjamin Groner
of Windsor performed the cere-
mony at Pereira's on Dexter
Ave.
The bride's sister, Miss Betty
Anne Chafets, was the maid of
honor and her brother, Sam
Chafets, was best man. The
groom's niece, Dotsy Blitstein,
was flower girl.
Among the out of town guests
were Mrs. J. Rubin, Mrs. H. Ru-
bin, Robert Rubin, Mrs. P. Bleier
and Miss Florence Silverman, all
from Washington, D. C.
The young couple left on a
honeymoon trip to New York
City and Washington, D. C., fol-
lowing which Corp. Fine will
report to his post at Camp Ip-
perwash, Ontario.

Sgt. and Mrs. Julius S. Rothchild (Toba Lee Jackson) returned
on Tuesday to Durham, N. C., following a 10-day visit with their
parents. Sgt. Rothchild is stationed at Camp Butner.
Complimenting their sister, Miss Ethel Sendrovsky, whose mar-
riage to Max Zieger will be an event of Jan. 17, Mrs. Samuel Munch,
Mrs. Alfred Fisher,- and Mrs. Isadore Good of Pontiac, entertained
on Thursday evening at a dinner and miscellaneous shower at Shiff
and Moss; on Clairmont Ave.
Honoring Miss Ida Shaffer's recent engagement to Corporal
David A. Falik, a dinner was given by the Misses Ruth Drazin,
Anita Cohane, Shirley Max, Lena Brotsky and Mesdames Loretta
Davis, Phyllis Kellman and Marcia Kaye, on Jan. 6, at Lelli's.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Markowitz of 15310 LaSalle Blvd. have
returned from a ten-day visit with their son, Milton G. Markowitz,
at Camp Sutton, N. C.
