Meanwhile, Liberal circles in Britian continue to press

steps to implement the recent Allied declaration. Especial
emphasis is laid on the demand for easing the immigra-
tion barriers which hinder the rescue of those few Jews
who are able to flee Nazi-dominated countries.

British Poale Zionists Plead for Jewish Rights

No real peace settlement is possible unless the wrongs
done to the Jewish people are repaired and the interests
of the Jews are taken into account in plans for inter-
national reconstruction after the war, it was stated this
week in a resolution adopted at the national conference of
the British Poale-Zionist organization.
The resolution further reiterated the demand for a
separate Jewish army and endorsed the policy of Arab-
Jewish cooperation in Palestine.

South Africa Joins in Protest Against Atrocities

JOHANNESBURG, (JTA)—All radio stations in the
Union of South Africa went off the air this week for two
minutes as part of the nation-wide observance of a day
of mourning and protest for the hundreds of thousands of
Jews who have been murdered by the Nazis in Europe.
In a message addressed to the Board of Deputies,
Prime Minister Smuts stressed that horrors inflicted upon
the Jews call for the greatest protest.

Atrocities Assailed at Curacao Meeting

That was true of the concert
last Sunday evening, and the
large audience that braved the
inclement weather to hear Sey-
mour Lipkin play was rewarded
by a brilliant performance that
left little more to be desired.
Seymour, who is only 15, ex-
hibited an amazing technique of
piano dynamics. He combines
strength and power as well as the
delicacy required of a great con-
cert pianist.
He played a taxing program,
with an understanding and the
ability of a mature musician to
interpret his scores. He displayed
familiarity with the artistry of
the great masters—Bach, Bee-
thoven, Mendelssohn, Chopin and
Ravel—befitting a veteran.
Seymour's rendition of the
Beethoven Sonata in D Minor,
with its powerful emotional out-
pourings, was superb. He at all
times -proved master of situations
calling for rendition of the diffi-
cult numbers on his program.
Seymour Lipkin is of the cali-
ber that truly great artists are
made of. I have followed his
career from infancy. When only
two years old, he played by ear
any song or melody that he
heard. We may well call him
a "born" musician. If I may quote
Mr. McLaughlin of the Detroit
News "There is no telling how
far Seymour Lipkin will go when
his emotions catch up with his
fingen..."
The concert was under the
auspices of the Music Study Club
of Detroit whose aims are to
foster appreciation and under-
standing of music and to pro-
mote creative American talent.

WILLEMSTADT, Curacao, (JTA) —The Governor of
this Dutch Island, Pieter Kasteel, and Msgr. Pieter Verriet,
Its the Catholic Bishop of Curacao, were the principal speak-
ers at a meeting here this week to protest the extermina-
tion of European Jewry.

Jewish leaders_ called a protest meeting at the hall of the

the next day.
