Baroness Yvonne de Gunz-
bourg, who came to this country
from Paris several years ago with
her husband, Baron Pierre de
Gunzbourg, will address a tea at
the Detroit chapter of ORT, Ro-
manesque Hall of the Institute of
Art at 3 p. in. on Wednesday,
Jan. 13. The public is invited.
The baroness will arrive in De-
troit Tuesday, Jan. 12, when she
will be the guest at a luncheon of
the board of the local ORT group
at the home of Mrs. Fred Gott-
furcht. On Wednesday evening,
Jan. 13, Mrs. Harry Becker, vice-
president of the group, will en-
tertain at dinner in honor of the
guest. Other teas will be given
by Mrs. Mortimer Meyer and
MrS. Clarence Enggass on Thurs-
day, and Mrs. Herbert H. Warner
on Friday.
In extending an invitation to
members to bring friends and
prospective members to the pub-
lic tea, Mrs. Morritz Kahn, presi-
dent of the Detroit ORT group,
calls attention to the fact that the
Baroness' grandfather, Baron
Horas de Gunzbourg, was one of
the ORT organizers in 1880. The
Baroness was president of the
Paris committee of OZE-ORT,
which conducted vocational train-
ing and a health program. She
also was the organizer of an ORT
school for mechanics in Paris and
established a home for refugee
children.
In Detroit, the ORT receives its
support from the Allied Jewish
Campaign.

event, reports that plans are
progressing for the distribution
of prizes and arrangements of

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Silberstein of the Belcrest Hotel have left
for California, where they will spend the winter months in Los
Angeles and Palm Springs.
Mrs. Howard Jacobson of Dunbarton Rd. entertained a group
of her friends at a luncheon at the Belcrest Hotel on Tuesday,
Dec. 29.
A group of Central and Highland Park High school students
gave a WPA party on Sunday, Dec. 27. After a few hours of ice
skating the guests went to the home of Virginia Brown, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Brown of Wildemere Ave., for refresh-
ments and dancing.
- Frederick J. Fisher, Yeoman III class, has returned to his post
with the Personnel Office in the Amphibian Force, Norfolk, Va.,
following an eight-day furlough spent with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Fisher of Buena Vista Ave. His brother, Pvt. Philip M.
'Fisher, who has recently enlisted with the Army Air Force, is sta-
tioned at Miami Beach, Fla.
Miss Rita Schubot, daughter of Jule R. Schubot of Wildemere
Ave., is visiting with friends in Cleveland.
Pvt. Louis Stober has returned to his post at Camp Lee, follow-
ing an eight-day furlough spent with his brother and sister-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. David Stober of Fairfield Ave.
Mrs. Rose Brown of the Lee Plaza has returned from a week's
visit with her son-in-law and. daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Morton
of Cumberland, Md.
Mrs. Joseph G. Fenton of Oak Drive is leaving on Sunday, Jan.
3, to spend a week in New York City.

Starts Teas Jan. 8
The Detroit Women's Division
of the American Jewish Congress
announces the first in a series of
teas to be held on Friday, Jan. 8,
2 p. m., at the home of Mrs. Wil-
liam Gottesman, 2690 Oakman
Ct. These teas will be held on
each Fr id a y throughout the
month of January in conjunction
with the fund-raising campaign
now in progress. They take the
form of national teas, the subject
of which will be "Our Allies."-
The first, a Russian tea, will
maintain a Russian atmosphere.
There will be a group of Russian
folk songs. The feature of the
afternoon will be a talk by Mrs.
Morris Adler. Members and

board meeting held Dec. 21 at the

social hour will follow. Friends
