Plan to Halt Atrocities; Brodetsky Presents Authent-
icated Report to Bristish M. P.'s

LONDON, (JTA)—Foreign ministers of the exiled
governments in London this week met to discuss measures
to halt the Nazi massacres of Jews in Europe. The meet-
ing took place in the official residence of Gen. Sikorski,
the Polish Premier. A "far-reaching practical suggestion"
made by the Polish Government formed the basis of the

discussion. A joint statement by
all the governments is expected
to be issued.
The meeting came as a result
of intensive diplomatic activity
by the governments of the United
States of America, Great Britain
and Russia on one hand, and the
governments of the occupied
countries on the other, looking
towards devising some plan to
halt the Nazi extermination of

this week made public an eye-
witnesS account of the mass-kill-

ing of 10,000 Jews in Mariupol,
in the Ukraine, given by a Jewish
radioman, Arkadi Sorokin, who
escaped the massacre and fled to
the Russian lines. This is Soro-
kin's story:
"The Nazis ordered all Jews—
about 10,000 people—into bar-
racks built to hold a few hun-
dred persons. Here we were left
for three days without food or
water. On the fourth day we
were herded out of the barracks
—able bodied men were forced to
walk while the women, children
and aged and sick persons were
loaded onto trucks.
"Our destination Was a large
anti-tank pit on the outskirts of
the town, which we ourselves had
built in an attempt to check the
Nazi advance. A German officer
told us to take off all our clothes
and to get into the pit: Then the
Nazis turned their machineguns
on us. My wife and child fell
dead before my eyes. To this day
I do not know how I escaped
being killed. After escaping I
encountered farmers digging po-
tatoes. One of them gave me his
coat. Thirty-four days later I
reached the Soviet lines."

Only Coincidence Reveals Generosity

Samuel Frank, leader in numerous Jewish causes,
has been a liberal donor, to the outstanding causes in the
community—Jewish and non-Jewish—for many years.
Many of these contributions have been given anonymously.
It was only by co-incidence that the community learned
on Tuesday, his 55th birthday, that he was contributing
$5,000 to a number of important 0

assist in celebration of this day
without fanfare.

Mr. Frank's gifts on his birth-
