Spirit of Maccabees Lives Again in Ranks of Jewish Servicemen

46,

The Hanukah festival, which comes to
close today, finds the Jewish people through-
out the world encouraged by the Maccabean
valor our men in the service of the United
Nations are displaying on all fronts.

The above photographs show groups of
Palestinian Jewish fighters in action on the
Egyptian desert, crossing a bridge "some-
where in the Middle East," in battle position
with machine guns and on the march to meet

the common enemy. The lower right photo-
graph shows a group of Polish and Jewish Boy
Scouts fraternizing in Tel Aviv. There are now
47,000 Palestinian Jews serving with the
British combatant forces.
