Jewish Youth's
LISTENING
POST

By DANNY RASKIN

The job done by local Jewish
organizations of entertaining boys
in service is swell. But a neglect-
ed group of fellows that is with-
out uniform are the war workers.
A lot of out-of-town boys are
working in our factories and have
not been given too much of an
opportunity to meet the young
Jewish people here. They are
living . in hotels, boarding houses,
etc. and as strangers, their
chances for entertainment with
folks of their age and religion
are limited. Something should
be, done • about it.

time the incredibly vicious meth-
ods which the Nazis are using to
murder all Jews who come within
their power. Although mention-
ing no names, Dr. Wise pointed
to the authenticity of his state-
ments as being vouched for by a
representative of Pr e s i d e n t
Roosevelt who had recently visit-
ed Europe. Those familiar with
these personalities recognized
that Dr. Wise was referring to
one of the most conservative and
objective public figures in Amer-
ica. That person had even said
to Dr. Wise: "the worst that you
have thought is true."
The "extermination campaign"
initiated by Hitler has cost the
lives of half the 4,000,000 Jews in
Nazi-held Europe, Dr. Wise said.

Bombing of German
Cities by Jewish
Air Units Demanded

JERUSALEM, •(JTA)—
Mass - meetings throughout
Palestine this week, called to
protest the decimation of
European Jewry by the Nazis,
adopted resolutions demand-
ing the establishment of spe-
cial Jewish air units to born-
bard German cities in reprisal
for the atrocities inflicted
upon the Jews. The formation
of Jewish military units to
participate in an invasion of
Europe was also urged at
these gatherings. All syna-
gogues were crowded with
worshippers who recited spe-
cial prayers and "El Mole
Rachmin" for the martyred
Jews.
The Hebrew press in Pales-
tine appeals to the non-Jewish
democratic world to start an
international movement to
save at least the Jewish child-
ren in Europe from Nazi ex-
termination.

December 13th Day of Fasting
Dr. Wise also announced that
Sunday, Dec. 13, has been set
aside as a day of fasting and
prayer by Jews, wherever they
are free, on behalf of Jews who
are enslaved.

Hebrew Press Tells of European
Massacres
JERUSALEM (JPS-Palcor)--A
harrowing account of the reports
received from reliable sources
through the Jewish Agency Ex-
ecutive here concerning the mass
murders and slaughter of Polish
Jewry and the Jews of western
and central Europe who were de-
ported to Poland is given by the
Hebrew press, with black borders
on their front pages.
According to these reports, the
Nazis began a systematic anni-
hilation of the Jewish inhabitants
of towns and hamlets in Poland
after Gestapo chief Heinrich
Himmler's visit to Warsaw last
Spring. Jewish children up to the
age of 12 as well as elderly peo-
ple were executed mercilessly by
the thousands. All able-bodied
Jewish males were sent in groups
to unknown destinations. Jew-

esses were also arrested in many
places and deported.

Hopes to Stir Free World
TEL AVIV (JPS - Palcor)—
Deeply grieved by the reports of
wholesale extermination of Jews
in Nazi-occupied Europe, the
Jewish community of Palestine
has set aside three days of mourn-
ing, prayer and protest against
the unbelievably brutal program
of mass murder and destruction
of Jews carried on by the Nazis
in lands under their domination.
Acting in response to the wave
of indignation which has swept
every section of the Yishuv, the
Vaad Leumi has voted the three-
day period of concerted action to
stir the free world to save Eu-
ropean Jewry from systematic
extermination.
Rabbinate Proclaims Mourning
The Tel Aviv Rabbinate has
proclaimed a week of mourning
and prayer to express the all-
Jewish. city's deep feeling of con-
sternation at the catastrophe that
has befallen the Jews of Europe.
Editorials in the Hebrew press
stress the fact that the Jewish
people is tensely awaiting the re-
action of the free world to the
reports of the outrages through-
out Europe.

Jews in America Join in
Mourning
NEW YORK.-:—At the sugges-
tion of The Synagogue Council
of America, Orthodox, Conserva-
tive and Reform Rabbis and Con-
gregations observed last Wednes-
day as a day of mourning for the
victims of Hitler's program of ex-
termination directed against the
Jews under his rule. The Syna-
gogue Council joined with the
American Jewish Committee,
American Jewish Congress, Bnai
Brith and Jewish Labor Commit-
tee in a program of mourning
and protest.
In his appeal, Dr. Israel Gold-
stein, president of the Synagogue
Council said, "Our worst fears,
alas, have proved true. Our State
Department's confirmation of the
horrifying r e p or t s concerning
Hitler's extermination program
against millions of our helpless
fellow-Jews, leaves no doubt as
to the facts. This carnival of Jew-
ish blood, aimed at the total de-
struction of a people, dwarfs
every previous outrage of Hit-
ler's butchery."
The proclamation of American
Jewish organizations supplement-
ed the action of the Chief Rab-
binate of Palestine and the Union
of Orthodox Rabbis of America
in proclaiming the day of mourn-
ing, prayer and fasting.
Supporting the proclamation of
the American Jewish organiza-
tions, Dr. Chaim Weizmann, pres-
ident of the World Zionist Or-
ganization, joined with Dr.
Stephen S. Wise and Dr. Nahum
Goldmann, heads of the World
Jewish Congress, in cabling 29
communities in various sections
of the world to observe the date
in their ,own countries as a day
of mourning, fasting and prayer
"for the Jewish victims of the
greatest crime against humanity."
